Default BSNL Portal adding Usage mysteriously.

    Hey,

I thought it was my imagination... But i have more than 2-3 instances where i've found that BSNL portal is just adding to the usage unscrupulously. Today morning, i remember that my usage was 2.30 GB and i noted it by the night unlimited amount of usage as reference. But now just few hours later, i saw that my shaplus shows 65MB usage for today but BSNL portal shows total usage of 2.45 GB which is like 135 MB, more than double of the difference shown by shaplus.

This is not the single observation. I've found many times during this month, like once it jumped from 2.1 GB odd to 2.3GB odd in no time! I thought that maybe they're adding earlier usage due to something getting missed, its accounted only now. But seeing today's case, its surely not that...

Anyone else observing unscrupulous calculations by BSNL portal?

Hell, now what to do if the usage just creeps up to 3 GB or more like this, even after stopping using the broadband??????

Please help guys, we need to do something about this. Any ideas? Earlier too when i reported the BSNL portal huge miscalculations (here in a thread too... Dilip and essbebe may be remembering), and i complained, 2-3 months later, i got a lame letter saying that its all normal and it was in their servers time tagged and there was no miscalculation. They never understood my complaint that they didn't count usage for the first 5 days of the month and they mysteriously counted it on 31st midnight. I had all the excel files downloaded, and the usage was not counted for first 5 days till 31st of that month. I ended up paying for like 500 MB extra!

I don't want to curse here, but hell i'm trying my best to hold on.

BSNL once added my usage on 1st on 21st. May be that is the case with you too. Simply complain that someone is using your connection without your knowledge and hence the hike. They will verify using your MAC address. Download the usage in Excel format and try to compare the suspicious usage.

But i have a Type-1 modem. Is it possible for someone to use the connection in a wired modem?

And, i've been using my 3G data card also along with the landline, so my shaplus counts both now (sometimes i disable shaplus when using 3G, but rarely while using landline BB). Its showing 2197 MB till now whereas the portal says 2.49 GB.

So things look very suspicious, i think there has been miscalculation of about 300-400MB. I don't know how they're just adding the total usage when i verify the "incremental" usage with previous day which doesn't account to the increase in total usage.

I'll see what the bill comes. Now i'm thinking of totally scrapping this BSNL landline... i'm a very unsatisfied customer, and they've not failed many times to disappoint me. Be it service, billing or rectifying their mistakes. Am i asking too much?

If you have any alternative, better switch. With BSNL, you need to be lucky too to enjoy the internet experience. I am not sure about using only 3G. If you are using Rs. 4,200 connection, it will end soon and you may not be able to do well with 3G.
