    Smile New BSNL Broadband

    Dear All,
First of all I apologize in advance as I know these questions have been asked earlier. I have got a new BSNL connection just 10 days back and I am trying to discontinue my Airtel broadband connection. I have BB Home Combo UL 750 plan and my modem is Teracom Type 1.

Can you people please suggest some pointers/settings for the modem and links to important BSNL websites, please also suggest the best DNS servers for BSNL as there default ones are not that great and mostly time out.

    Thanks again.

Me too on UL 750. Using Open DNS as preferred and Google DNS as alternative.

    Open DNS : 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

    Google DNS : 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

What kind of links do you want ? Please specify.

    Default Thanks

Dear @meetdilip and @essbebe, Thanks for your response. @meetdilip I would like to know how did you set two preferred and two alternate DNS servers? was that through the "Advanced" tab under TCP/IP properties menu? Or you just use one at a time as preferred and alternate DNS servers.

Any other settings I should change to make the connection faster and more reliable from my end? Please let me know.

    Thanks again

    I use DNS as 208.67.222.222 and 8.8.8.8.

No tweaks required to speed up the connection (nothing I know). But if there is an orange - yellow triangle in your utorrent window, try port forwarding. You can also trying optimizing the connection using Tuneup Utilities or TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net.

If you are planning to stay for a longer time with BSNL, then its better to buy it right away. As far as I have read, BSNL modem's can be re-used for other subscriber's as well, if at all, you plan to change in future.

It is useful for people who cannot include Rs. 1,800 in their budget after purchasing a smart phone or laptop which use wifi.

Using Google Public DNS [8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4] is better than using OpenDNS (208.67.222.222)
