if you are using Only one system ( desktop or laptop)
    these settings can remain.

    1.
You should also backup modem/router settings .
Go to Management > select Backup
say to C:/My Documents / Modem working 26th Jan
If you dont' use wifi mode disable it in router.
    2.
Also create a System Restore Point for this day.

    (A)
Hope you have "backed up" saved current settings of the router.

    (B)
You have to change to "always On" mode PPP/PPPoE
    UserId/PW entered/stored. in wan page.

    (C)
IN LAN menu page enable DHCP.
    Give a range 192.168.1.10 to say 192.168.1.15

    (D)
In laptop you can select for both LAN and WLAN
    in Network settings
    Obtain IP address automatically.)
( No change in desktop Lan Mode )

    However it does not work.

Problem started when I had setup some firewall rules where I had put MAC filter and clicked 'allow below'. However the table had no mac address selected.

Then, I had used reset circular button at bottom of router and pressed for 10 mins.

Although, this problem exists, the router name in wireless settings is showing as Broadcom that was the default. However, I dont know the default password to connect to it.

    Please help

Presume you could access the modem/router menu after the LED display for 10 minutes ! Min 6 sec max 30 to 40 seconds for RESET.

If YES check this link and give feedback.

No, I couldn't access 192.168.1.1.. that is I couldn't access the menu pages of router.

I can see 'broadcom' (the default name), in the available wireless networks on my WIFI. But I dont know the default wireless password.

It assigns me to 169 network address, I'm not sure if resetting the router resets the firewall rules as well.

    Thanks,

See Post No 6 and try again..

Confirm you cannot access in LAN mode also.

I tried Post 6 already and results are as above (Post 13)

When connected to LAN, in auto assigned IP it assigns 169.... and then says limited connectivity.

When in static IP mode (1.10 or other), it successfully connects but does not allow to navigate to 192.168.1.1. (Which used to load earlier).

This problem started after I by mistake clicked on enable the below address in firewall (with empty list).

I reset the router but I'm not sure if the firewall settings was reset as well. The router name (as it appears in available wireless settings shows the default Broadcom (custom was something else) but did I reset the router successfully ?

What should be the default password to connect via wireless ? Any thing else I can try ?

Is there anyway to connect via "Line" port and reset the password ?

    Thanks,

when you reset router every setting reset to default.in your static ip setting set 192.168.1.2 then connect using lan.also use a different browser to connect to 192.168.1.1 if you are using same browser till now.just for precaution clear the cache of browser.if still no success post the result of ipconfig /all again along with ping result(ping 192.168.1.1) in command window(run cmd).

Context menu when you click the wifi icon and
    and access Wifi network "broadcom"
    Connect /Status /Properties.
    Select Properties and "show characters."

    Para two:

    A simple query
Confirm you cannot access in LAN mode also.
you cannot answer in plain simple English. YES NO.
I don't know , whether you get connected to Internet in LAN mode.
and can surf the web sites.
IF "NO" after finding the wifi security key and using it result. will be same.

See post No 18 and give the data:
post the result of ipconfig /all again
along with ping result(ping 192.168.1.1) in command window(run cmd).

    3.
Using small quotes like this :
[quote ] when connected in LAN.....[ /quote]
    without space will appear
    when connected in LAN....
If limited connectivity, I wanted to know whether any web site was accessed.OS Used Windows 7/vista or XPSP3.

I'll try to be more clear this time. Thanks for your replies.

What should be the default password to connect via wireless ? Any thing else I can try ?
---> I am using Windows XP SP3 and have reset the router. I dont have existing configuration and want to know the WEP key that should be used so that I can configure to connect via wireless. This is because everytime it puts me on limited connection.
Firewall is disabled and Proxy is removed. I was able to access 192.168.1.1 before selecting the "Allow below" in Router firewall, after which the problem started.

    2) Confirm you cannot access in LAN mode also.
    a) NO using dynamic auto assigned IP: I cannot access 192.168.1.1. It assigns me IP 169... and displays limited connectivity.
Ping to 192.168.1.1 returns not found with 100% Loss.

    b) NO using static IP: When I configure static IP, it does not give limited connectivity and following is what I get:
    Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1C-26-4C-66-5C
    Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.10
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
    DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 8.8.8.8
    208.67.220.220

Ping to 192.168.1.1 returns not found with 100% Loss.

Firewall is deactivated. No Proxy Settings on browser.

If limited connectivity, I wanted to know whether any web site was accessed.OS Used Windows 7/vista or XPSP3.
OS specification is as above. Regarding internet, I have unsubscribed from Airtel. So, I do not have internet to be able to load website using router connection. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with browser. (When I connect using USB internet device, I can load every website. The LAN connection adapter is fine as I can access wire/wireless while at restaurants etc).

    3.
    Reset process
-->I switched on the router with only power cable connected (No LAN/LINE cable)
--> Power LED glows red and after some time WIFI LED Glows Green
-->I press the routers reset button at bottom for ~25 seconds.
-->DSL Light blinks Yellow suddenly and Power/WIFI were continuously glowing as before.
--> I release the reset button and poweroff/poweron the router again.

Is this the right way to reset ? Although, the routers name (as displayed in available wireless networks has changed).

    4.
    Other options
Should it be good to open the router and look for some other reset there ?
Is there any CD delivered with the router ? I can't find it on beetel's website. Any clue ?

    All the thanks dude.

    Essbebe rocks! This worked well.

I am able to connect via wireless and navigate to the 1.1 page. I restored my settings as earlier from earlier backup.

However, my LAN access still does not work. It assigns 169... IP and gives limited connectivity. Any clue ? Any option that would make this work ? Any clue on how many users does router support over wireless ? (we have tried max 4)

Why do you want to test Beetel 450BXI is working or not ??___________
Because I have this router and data card based internet. I have multiple machines that connect to internet. I plan to put a proxy server on one of the machine so that the other is able to access.
I hope this clears why I want to test.

    Data input from where ?_________________________________

I presume you are asking for source of internet.
-->I need around 2-3 machines (machine 2 & mach 3) to be configured in a network through router. One of this will be on LAN wire... This machine on LAN, (say, Machine 1) already has data card installed and internet is working good.
--> The machines in LAN can use proxy address to communicate to the internet.
--> Problem is that I'm not able to get the Mach 1 on LAN (which does not have wireless card) so LAN is the only option.

However, my LAN access still does not work. It assigns 169... IP and gives limited connectivity. Any clue ?

    I am looking for ...
I have connected my LAN port using RJ45 to my computer LAN. I dont know why is the IP is given incorrectly ? And when I configure in 192 domain it says successfully connected but does not allow me access anything.
The firewall on PC is disabled. Do I need to update my wireless software ? What else can I try to get this working.
