    Exclamation Modem Freezes - UT300r2U

    Hi friends,

So I am having this issue now where my modem [UT300R2U] hangs up frequently.

The way I know that it freezes is when the status light stops blinking and glows continuously or turns off completely. The only way to get it started it to power cycle the modem.

I've been using this modem since the last 3 years or so and never had a problem with it so far.

The modem is connected through an Ethernet cable and the line SNR and Attenuation are absolutely fine.

FYI, I am running Win 7 Pro 32bit, the modulation is at G.dmt and connected via PPPoE mode.

So is there anything I could do to make the modem work properly or is it just the time to get a new one?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

    1. Check your splitter. Make sure all connections come after splitter.

    2. Replace splitter and try.

    3. Bypass the splitter and connect directly to the modem.

    4. Reset the modem and reconfigure it.

    5. If possible try a friend's modem and check.

Did you checked your SNR and attenuation values ? Hope they are within the range.

    Thanks for your response Dilip.

All the connections are coming after the splitter and the modem had been running fine since the last 3 years. It's recently that the problem cropped up.

The SNR/ ATTN values are as follows:

    SNR Margin 37.0db 25.0db
    Line Attenuation 13.5db 6.5db dB

    modem [UT300R2U]

    try DNS 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220
( enter in modem also in tcp/ip properties)
    Presume ."Always On PPP/PPPoE" mode.

I am already using the Google DNS servers and yes it's on PPPoE mode [always on]

OK friends, here's an update which might shed some more light in this issue

I went on to check the Windows system logs and found the following errors:-

Name resolution for the name [website name - sorry can't post URLs now] timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.

    ...and so on.

There were several of such errors with different website URLs.

    And idea?

    Thanks

Thanks essbebe - hope the previous post is now okay.

I am unable to find the client TR-069 in the modem [UT300R2U]

Also after changing over to BSNL DNS, the connection is stable so far [touchwood]. If it fails again, I'll give that application a shot.

    Thanks!

My modem interface resembles the interface as shown in the link posted - so probably it's not available.

It's been close to 3 hrs now since I've changed my DNS servers to the BSNL ones and till now it's been going steady, with a continuous download running at above 150kbps.

I will keep you all posted on the progress with the BSNL DNS servers. Maybe the issue had to do with the Google DNS that I was using.

Thank you so much for your help again.

UPDATE - I changed the modulation from G.dmt to Multimode [ADSL] and the modem stabilized - I switched it back to G.dmt and the modem hung up again.

So maybe it's the modulation mode is causing the issue....still guessing here.

Ok friends, the modem is still not working properly.

I guess the issue lies with the modem itself, since I've tested it with another modem - SIEMENS C2110 and it works fine.

Do you all think that a firmware upgrade on UT300R2U could solve the problem, can anyone please point me to the latest firmware for the modem?

    Thanks a lot

    The current Firmware Version: R1.00B02.3AS.BS

    ADSL Firmware Version: E.37.5.3

I tried upgrading the firmware through BSNL's firmware upgrade application, but it won't detect my modem.

    Please advise.

essbebe: Why disable TR-069 ? It's enabled by default and the modem will always work fine even if it is enabled.

IIRC, TR-069 is needed for CPE configuration(local) and not only for remote CPE configuration.
