Thread: how to configure wifi in my residential router 1600?

i hav got a laptop with windows 7. it detects wifi but i am unable to connect. pls help

For Windows 7 it is different.
click the Icon in Taskbar.
see this:

1. Go to " Network and sharing center " > View your basic network information and set up connections > See full map.

Post the screen shot. Try troubleshooting also.

2. Try without encryption and check. ie, no password and anyone can freely select the wifi connection (only for checking purpose, you can later add encyption / password.

3. If (2) not working,

a. Configure your modem in PPPoE mode.

b. Enable DHCP in your modem.

c. In the TCP/IP properties of your connection, set " Obtain IP address automatically ".

4. If nothing works, Reset your modem, reconfigure it and check.

I am using NOkia Seimens residential router 1600.i need the firmware for it.actually due to my mistake i cant access the 192.168.1.1 page.whenever i try to connect to this page a msg is coming like browse file location and update software.some one pls help me i am in great trouble.....

Try resetting the modem. There will be a small switch at the backside of your modem. Use pen refill and press hold for say 30 seconds when the power is ON.

How will you flash the new FW if you cannot access modem menu pages ?

RESET to Factory settings.
Access may be in the rear or a small round hole in bottom ,
near right leg of unit. With Power on press with a Ball point refill for about 20 to 30 seconds and then try.
