    Can you please post the exact problem you are facing. May be we can fix it without a firmware update. Updating firmware is a bit risky. May end up in spoiling the modem.

    1. How many PC do you use ? Is this the only one connected to net ? If yes, try configuring in Bridge mode. Log in to the modem, under 0_35 entry, you will find an option to select between Bridge and PPPoE. You need to make a dialer and use it connect to internet. It needs to enter ID and password in dialer than modem.

    2. Reset the modem and reconfigure it. There will be a small hole at the back end of the modem. Use a refill and press hold it for say (30 seconds) when the modem is ON. In most cases, it will solve this issue.

    3. If nothing works, try another modem at your place and check. May be a case of faulty modem.

    Default Upgrading the Modem is NOT RISKY.

    Upgrading the modem is not risky. Main thing is that there should not be any power cut or anything which stops the updating in between.

    I have Modem Upgrade tool for ZXDSL 831II modem. I have done many times at customer places for the same problem you have mentioned and also helps somewhat if DSL is not stable.

    Default Download the smallest size(2 MB) Upgrade file.

    www*4shared*com/file/OmPnOW8c/831AII_upgrade_tool*html

    Replace *(star) with .(dot)

    This is a working file. You have to download & extract the folder. Then open it and click on .exe file named PT4VnV and just wait untill message comes as "FINISHED OK" in green label and modem will be reboot automatically. Then you have to enter username and password given to you for only once then your problem will be solved. It will take 2 or 3 minutes.

    Keep in mind that during the upgrading process there should always be contact of modem to PC. There should not be anypower failure/Electricity cut, in such condition modem will not be of any use.

    Default Upgrade tool for Teracom Type - 1 Modem Only

    @essbebe - Thanks for posting link in easy manner as I haven't made 15 posts.

    This is for Teracom Type - 1 Modem. It is not actually Upgrade file but it is same version as it already comes in Teracom modem. But if you find some ADSL/PING problem, it can play role as a flashing/Refreshing your Router Chipset.

    For this you have to log into modem.
    192.168.1.1 ->user:admin pass: admin
    then go to
    admin->firmware upgrade->browse the given file.

    www*4shared*com/file/0QE40B31/TEImage*html

    replace star(*) with dot(.)

    you don't need to worry about redoing your modem configuration, it will be done automatically as it was.

    I needed firmware for (ZTE) ZXDSL 831AIIV1.0.1i_D18_IN BSNL Modam
    SEE this blog about your present version.
    http://foribb.blogspot.com/2010/09/z...-firmware.html
    BSNL FILE: 2.1MB
    http://www.box.net/shared/q0coyxd3uv

    Again the modem is same/similar as Siemens C2110.
    Para two:
    There is another version of 831AII not based on above type..
    ( and many Russian versions )
    supplied by Reliance. I had used it

    There is a RISK Factor of flashing FW version, not specifically meant for the model showing different software.
