Use a good download manager. Internet Download Manager (IDM), Free Download Manager (FDM) or Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) will do.
.Please check this web site and related links.

A website has links to different web sites popups flash, video etc
Usually 40% to 50% data used by the links,.
You can use FireFox with addons to block advts/flash/video content
to speed up downloading .
Test in both conditions and give feedback.
2. Use tcp/ip optimiser from speeedguide.net to tweak settings

It really depends on the server you are downloading from.
Well seeded torrents will typically have a very high availability so you will always get really high speeds.
Make sure you don't have any proxies enabled in firefox (tools->options->advanced)
Try a different browser like opera/chrome and see if you get similar speeds; if you do it's most likely a server issue (basically the place you're downloading from doesn't have a good upload rate).
And yes, download managers will probably give you better speeds.
Try to use internet download manager software...
it vl sure helpful to you...
