    (a)
    open your modem menu
    Retype 192.168.1.1/look.html
Post as attachment here the screen shot.

    (b)
Give reason for wanting to upgrade Firmware.

    (c)
Try 192.168.1.1/main.html in "Always On PPPoE mode
    for advanced options.

    Feedback item wise.

    but how to update????

    @ atik

Unlike Windows update, you need not update your router firmware on a regular basis, especially with BSNL supplied modems / routers. Most routers have basic functions enabled which is sufficient to meet your regular needs like connecting through ethernet, USB or WiFi, Connecting more than one PC, Setting up WiFi password / encryption, Port forwarding etc. You can try a firmware upgrade if

    1. You need any specific function in router which is not there at present.

    2. Modem / router not working properly (not all cases need firmware upgrade).

    3. You want to try an Open Source firmware.

    4. You are too geek to live with what manufacturer is offering and don't mind experimenting.

    Cons.

Nothing much, but if you flash your modem / router with a wrong firmware, or there is a power failure during firmware upgrade, or something goes wrong, you will end up with a dead modem / router and it will be irreparable.

Angry Strange problem with NSN 1600 router.

What's happening forum? Hope you guys are rocking as always.

The problem with my router is that it automatically restarts after every few minutes. I got this NSN 1600 router some 6 months ago, and it never gave any problem, but recently it has started behaving awkwardly.

When the router is powered on, the power indicator glows and remains steady. After a few seconds the DSL indicator starts blinking, and blinks for a few seconds, and then suddenly the router reboots even before it is connected to the internet.

This process is repeated several times, and the router is finally able to establish connection and remain steady. But again after 5-10 minutes it restarts all by itself Now it would take another few reboots to connect to the internet for few minutes.

I tried updating the firmware through the BSNL updater but it shows an error every time I try.

Do you think this problem can be corrected by upgrading the firmware or do I need to replace my modem?
If replacement is the only solution, could you please suggest me the best modem cum router under 3k? (I'm not so experienced with modems and routers).

    Thanks guys!
(took me more than 30 mins to post this)

    1. Try using another modem and check.

    2. Replace power adapter and check.
