    Question 24 Hour Connection Reset

I noticed that my IP resets every 24 hours causing disconnection for few seconds. Is this normal with BSNL connections ( I am on a 1350 combo plan ) and is this avoidable?

    Thanks

yes in 1350 combo plan ip is dynamic it refreshes after every 24 HR. if you take static ip @ 100 RS per month in your plan it will not change.and there is seting in ADSL modem also in which Leased Time (hour):........ is mention you can select it there.Default it is set to 24 Hrs.

Yes, I have changed the setting in modem but still the reconnection happens. Can one opt for static IP, I guess will have to apply for it through exchange.

Yes, you need to give a written application at your exchange. Why do you need a static IP ? Are you running a server at home ?

No but sometimes I trade stocks and connection resets during oddtimes causes disruption.

Oh, you can either opt for static IP or switch off and then ON the modem just before you start trading. By that way, lease time will be set in such a way that disconnection will not happen while trading.

Every time you restart your modem, you are assigned a new IP. Since your IP changes with the connection, it is called Dynamic IP. All users are alloted a Dynamic IP. If you want a Static IP, you need to give a written request at your exchange. In this case, the IP will be same irrespective of how many times you establish the connection with the server. Mainly used by corporates and those who run a server at home.
