Thread: link lamp goes off. Help me guys :(

Hello everyone, I am having a Huawei smartax router. I am recently having problems with my router. When i turn on the modem, it takes a while to get the link lamp on, at first, a green lamp used to come and now a orange lik lamp comes. All that is normal. What my problem is, after a orange colour link lamp comes, after a minute or so, it goes off . Then i have to restart my modem. After that, sometimes orange link lamp comes and i can browse net. But, sometimes a green link lamp comes, and i cannot browse anything. Please help me guys. I am using OpenDNS services insted of unresponsive BSNL DNS. I have 900 combo plan. Any help with this issue is highy appreciated..

Confirm mod mode is ADSL2+ Check in this page.

Select GDMT( in WAN menu page ? ).
Check snr attn data before and after change.
Also confirm whether you have to click the the "NOTE"icon
seen last ( in same page against 0_35 line )

To connect to Internet
Confirm whether you use "Dialer" "Bridged" mode ?
or
"Always On PPP/PPPoE mode ( userid/PW entered in wan page of modem )

Hello essebe,

1)Yes, I have ADSL 2+. look at the attached files
2)I do not have have the interface like you showed in the image and i do not see any GDMT,snr attn data and other options like in the image you referred to me. see the attached image to see, how that config window looks like.

3)To connect to internet, i dont use any dial up or anything, i mean i dont enter any username or password before i start to browse, I just go to my browser and i am connected to internet. I hope i am clear in my details. I dont have much knowledge about these things.

TRY in modem . ( search for menu item for BACKUP)
Back up current settings to say
C:/My Documents/MT841 working
IF
you are getting connected to Internet

(c) the Note icon has to be enabled.
after you see STATUS Green dot then enable "Note"


You may have to enable "NOTE" every time you connect.
in my model AX MT882 I had to do it.

Hey guys, I got the problem solved. I had called the bsnl guy about a week ago, till today he had not come.( By some enlightment he came today). He did the same (changed some router settings) and told me not to change any settings on my own. And the problem is solved. Anyways, thank you essbebe.I liked these forums very much and i appreciate the quick responses.
