    Default Taking Internet to Villages

    "Taking Internet to Villages"
This was the slogan of the previous Union Minister of Telecommunication Mr. Dhayanidhi Maaran. He worked on this vision and tried to give Broadband connections to the Villages with Special Plns.

But today - what is the real ground reality ???

BSNL works with the vision of "Taking Internet (Out of )To Villages".

There is a place Near Chengalpattu within 4-5 kms from the BSNL Guntur Exchange. Broadband was given 2 years ago and it worked well for years.

But for the last 3 months the same Broadband is not working. When contacted BSNL Officials in Chengalpattu GUNTUR EXchange say " It will not work as the distance in long"

I wonder if the BSNL Officials have dragged their exchange to a New Place all of a sudden.

For the last 2 years the distance was OK and i dont know how the distance increased now ????

They give a flat reply - Broadband will not work here as the distance is high.

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE IS:

Only the old connection wont work here. If you apply for new connection then that will work. How is this possible ??????

The Linemen take huge bribe on behalf of the official and allot good quality pair for the new connections. And leave the old connections which are there for years, unattended and the problem prevails.

    What can be done ???

Are you connected to a Rural Exchange ?
Are you using Rural BB tariff plans /
Chengalputtu is in TamilNadu or Andhra Pradesh ?
Guntur Exchange : Is it in AndhraPradesh or Tamil Nadu ??
Same town/village names in both States ?

Your Broadband connection is "PORT binded" to a Particular Telephone number for post paid connections.

If a new Exchange has been set up, surrender old number and apply for new connection here . ( say no STD/ISD needed )
Select a plan without telephone rental.

Try talking to Nodal officer or Appellate authority. ID and phone no on the backside of your bill.

If nothing works, you can file an RTI asking whether connection is available in your area or not. If they are already giving new connections in your area, you can request a connection (may be a new one after cancelling the current one as it is not working). If nothing works, collect the details of new connections in your area and complain at consumer court.
