Hello guys,
am having a bsnl broadband connection, with a UT starcom router/modem.Now a days am unable to download any torrent files using any of the torrent clients. i tried using utorrent, asureus, bit torrent etc, but of no use. Is BSNL trying to stop all torrent activity in our country? Can u plz check with ur friends that this is true or not and kindly plz reply me.
Hello vinu ,
first of all let me thank you 4 replying me. My connection is Plan 500, with download limit 2.5 gb and night unlimited from 2am to 8 am.But from this week, am not able to download via any torrent clients. i tried utorrent, azureus and bitcommet. Even i tried another os - win 98 and Linux - Debian, but no way to figure it out. The error am getting is Port error. I called their Broadband enquiry section and they said that it MAY not be their fault and has asked me to hard reset my modem. My modem is UTStarcom 300RU with ADSL.
I checked the utorrent forum and found that, this is a similar problem and no one has yet figured it out. i hope somebody can correct it, if u have any solutions for this , kindly plz inform me.
A lots of thanks in advance.......
Use bit comet - following the below mentioned directions and let me know the results..
Click - Options - Preferences..
Click on Listen Port (Radio Buttion) and type 6881...
Click OK.... restart your computer and try again....
Hi vinu, sorry for the delay. I have done according to what u have said, but still the bitcomet IP status light is yellow (blocked). And this is the message wen i place my mouse over it: " Your listen port is unreachable to public domain peers, please check your firewall and NAT router configurations".
I have hard reset my router and configured it again, but yet no improvements..
what to do??
yeh can you paste the few logs from event viewer.
yeh find TCPIP errors in the System logs with event ID 42xx and paste it here.
Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools ---> Event Viewer
Want to check whether it related to TCIp.sys connection limit.
Hi Rajesh,
Even I get the same error when I use Bitcomet 0.90 version... but at the same time it just keeps downloading the stuffs... Whereas if I use bitcomet 0.70 I dont get any error messages and it keeps downloading without any problems...
This is what I want to know....
* What version bitcomet are you using?
* When getting this error - are you able to download torrents?
awaiting your reply
well guyz i hv been using bitcomet 4 a long time n i`ve figured out tat though it gives da best downloading speeds[my experience] the newly released versions [0.91,0.92,0.93,0.94] are highly unstable ..
therefore even i switched to the older stable version 0.70[w/o ne extra crap]
i would suggest u to switch over to the older version and wait 4 a stable release of bitcomet .. its a big resource hog too .. so if u need something liter than go for utorrent[56% of torrent users use this]
u can find da old version at oldversion.com
hi guys,
am not able to view the events viewer from administratiive tools as it is disabled. When i dbl click on it, nothing happens.I think my windows is corrupted. But i have a win98 installation, and the torrent is blocked in 98 too!!
Even i tried with a debian OS in my friends laptop, and the same happens !
I guess it might be the torrentz which are blocking my ip, i dun knw?? Actually , before the problems starts, i had turned the upload limit to NULL and the downloading limit to "unlimited"- do u think that this might be the problem? I have downloaded abt 10 GB of data via utorrent with upload limit absolute zero.
dude if u downloadin a torrent than u got to upload something in return ..
it goes this way only and u cant turn da upload speed to zero until and unless its specified that zero=unlimited !!
try increasin ur upload speed
and as far as i know there s no such case of an ISP blockin torrents @!!!![]()
correct... if you are able to download.. which means there is nothing to do with "ISP blocking" for torrents.... because torrent activity (both upload and download) will happen in the same port... if you torrent activity port is blocked you cannot downloading anything via torrent....
Hi guys
yes, u are right. after this issue i have increased my upload rate to 25 kbps, which is sufficient, i hope. But still the port error occurs!.And I am from Cochin, Kerala. Do u guys thinks that my router is having any problems?? I have contacted the bsnl broadband enquiry in cochin and hard reset my router as told by them, they told it might be related with the router. No good, still the worst speed!!
Thanks in advance..
Hello guys ,
Let me inform u the good news that my torrent starts downloading even though, there is a port error. I have downloaded 1 movie and 1/2 of another movie in a night. I have made the upload limit to 25 kbps, formerly it was 0(null). And am using utorrent, its a good torrent client. The bit comet is a little bit heavy in resources as am having an old machine. Thanks guys for replying to my queries![]()
hmm .. good to hear tat
do u get port error on both torrent clients ???
