Default BSNL Data light off => error 678

Yesterday my internet suddenly stopped working.

    The data light is off.

When I try to connect to bsnl, I get stuck on connecting.

My phone line is working fine, and I have a 2nd airtel connection and that works fine too through the same modem.

BSNL Home 500, D-link GLB802C modem, windows XP.
    Bridged Mode.

    SNR/Atten values seem fine too.

The data light appears to blink once every 15-25 seconds (it normally blinks every 2-3 seconds).

DSL param from modem config page:
    Local Tx Power: 6.3 dB
    Remote Tx Power:12.5 dB
    Local Line Atten.:9.0 dB
    Remote Line Atten.:5.5 dB
    Local SNR Margin:32.0 dB
    Remote SNR Margin:19.0 dB
    Self Test:Passed
    DSL Standard:ADSL2+
    Profile:MII
    Tx Line Rate:639 Kbps
    Rx Line Rate:6139 Kbps
Max Attainable Line Rate(Down Stream):20163 Kbps
    SRA Parameters
    Auto SRA : Disable
    SRA CRC Error Rate:1800
    SRA FEC Error Rate:60
SRA Up Shift Obs. Period:3600 Secs
SRA Down Shift Obs. Period:600 Secs
Power Management Mode: L2, L3 Both Allowed

    modem diagnostics page :
    Testing Connectivity to modem
    Testing Ethernet connection PASS
Testing ADSL line for sync PASS
Testing Ethernet connection to ATM PASS
    Testing Telco Connectivity
Testing ATM OAM segment ping FAIL
Testing ATM OAM end to end ping FAIL
    Testing ISP Connectivity
    Testing PPPoE server connectivity FAIL
    Testing PPPoE server session SKIPPED
    Testing authentication with server SKIPPED
Validating assigned IP address 0.0.0.0 SKIPPED
    Testing Internet Connectivity
    Ping default gateway 0.0.0.0 FAIL
Ping Primary Domain Name Server FAIL

When I try to connect, I get a window saying:

    title:"Connecting bsnl..."
    Connecting through WAN Minipo(PPOE)

and then after about 15 seconds :
"Error 678: The remote computer did not respond. For Further assistance, click more info or search help and support center for this error number."

I got the line checked a few weeks ago, and the modem should be fine since my airtel connection works without any issues.

    Thanks.
