Default Which Speed Test is correct ?

    Guys,

I got a new BSNL Broadband connection with 4MBPS plan. I have tested the speed in "Speedtest.net" which shows 1 MBPS..also i have tested in "dataone.in", which shows 3.25MBPS which really confuses me.

4MBPS plan should give me the speed around 3.8-4 MBPS right ? but it gives me 1 MBPS.

Which is the correct one ?

Also pls let me know the way to increase the speed of my internet by changing any DNS settings ?

    Pls help me guys.

To get a real idea about your speed, try a download from Microsoft and check the speed. A lot of other users were having problem with maximum speed in 4 Mbps connection. Talk to the SDE of your exchange and seek help. Ask him to remove cap of your connection. Usually it is set as 2 Mbps.

Check in your modem snr/atttn ,attainable Rate( sync) and rate.
( Usually listed under Statistics ADSL)

    Statistics -- ADSL

    Mode: ADSL2+ ( *try this mode )
    Line Coding: Trellis On
    Status: No Defect
    Link Power State: L0

    Downstream Upstream
    SNR Margin (dB): 28.6 25.0
    Attenuation (dB): 19.0 10.1
    Output Power (dBm): 11.9 0.0
    Attainable Rate (Kbps): 22920 876
    Rate (Kbps): 2042 507
    (* check this data )

Backup present config ( settings of modem) to say C:/My documents/Modem working .

Also modem can be RESET to factory default settings
When settings again made, may train to new speed.
    Cannot confirm.

If the rate is less contact Broadband section(as advised above )

i guess 4 MBPS is the max speed..you will hardly get that..Try downloading something from a good torrent if you get a speed of around 350-400 kbs in dowloand than you can assume your speed is decent
Well i am not experienced tough in all this
