Thread: New BSNL page instead of google homepage !!!!

I'm a BBG FN500 user but recently experiencing two problems which are as follows ....

1) Everytime I open my browser instead of Google homepage this BSNL page Welcome to Motive_BSNL opens up and it fails to load most of the time giving a server timeout error ...

2) I can't see my internet usage in http://www.data.bsnl.in/wps/portal after 16/2/2011 9:15pm although I'm using broadband on a regular basis ....

Anyone experiencing these problems ????

BTW I'm from Kolkata Telecom Circle ....

Another user did reported the redirection towards motive.bsnl.in. It seems they have started this again. Don't give your time to examine the selfcare software they give. Corrupts your PC. Possible way to overcome redirection.

1. Use other than BSNL DNS.

2. Clear browser cache.

3. Enter DNS in your modem.

4. Use a different browser etc

BSNL portal normally lags on usage update. Most of us use a bandwidth meter to keep track of our usage. Try one from Networx or Shaplus. Both have facility to ignore night unlimited.

1. same thing happened to me and really i was pissed
reason: this a cheap publicity stunt by BSNL(really sad)
solution: whatever you do you cant stop it, so lets get around
got to start>run>drivers
open the hosts file in the etc folder(use any editor, preferably notepad)
you will see the localhost adress 127.0.0.1 of your machine at the end
in the next line copy/paste this
127.0.0.1 motive.bsnl.co.in
127.0.0.1 wxw.motive.bsnl.co.in
your browser will never find that bl**dy motive site as it will be redirected to itself.everytime your browser will give a message like cant find this site.but after sometime the msg began to bug me,so I changed the 127.0.0.1 to my homepage IP.

2.as per your second problem its a common BSNL fault.me 2 experiencing the same problem.wait 4 few days, bsnl will solve it.use shaplas for now.
