    Lightbulb Recommendations Please

    Hi there,

I been used Airtel for 2 years now finally giving up. Frequent disconnections, Latency issues, Dumb customer services and so on. I heard lot of good review about BSNL. By the way I'm in Chennai (Madipakkam area near velacherry). Afer hours of frustration today disconnected Airtel.

Now I would like to know the best plans and if anyone recommend other service provider with good plan and a decent service I'll be happy take it to consideration. I used to download atleast 30 to 40 GB per month. Also please mention the FUP limit with Airtel I used 2mbps 1799/ month with 40 GB FUP.

    Thanks in advance,
    Shyam

You can try UL 750 which gives 512 Kbps at Rs. 750 per month and no FUP. Or ULD 1350 which gives 4 Mbps upto 20 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 20 GB. Other unlimited plans under Rs. 1,500 has 256 Kbps after FUP. When we say 4 Mbps, not everyone is lucky enough to get that speed. I am not saying that you won't get it, but there is a possibility that your speed will be around 2 Mbps. It also happens sometimes as there is a 2 Mbps cap on all lines as it was the top speed before BSNL launched 4 Mbps. Most of the members solved the issue by talking to the SDE of the exchange. You can see the complete list of tariff here

    Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

    Hope this helps.

I like the plans but it's a little slow. I like these ones

    BBG Combo ULD 1700 - 2 Mbps upto 40 GB, 256Kbps beyond 40 GB
    BBG Combo ULD 2150 1 Mbps 100GB

Other than BSNL is there is anything other service provider you recommend like TATA or Reliance ?

I'm in Chennai (Madipakkam area near velacherry).
As the number of broadband connections at this exchange likely to be
less compared to the Chennai circle areas , your contention ratio will be better. Also as a new colony telephone cables may be reasonably new/ good !
Anyway see this link and give your details and hope some one from BSNL contacts you.
    UDAAN PROJECT -- BSNL
( no need to log in )
Till 31st March which ever tariff plan you select FREE download at 2 Mbps speed UNLIMITED download allowed.

I have an U/L combo service at 512 Kbps speed ( Adyar Exchange)and with down load Manager get reasonable d/l speed 40 to 70KB/sec
    http://mybroadbandspeed.co.uk. server in U.K
    upload speed stays constant.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the response.

I used to get around 280Kbps download speed with Airtel. I kind of expecting the same with BSNL with 2Mbps. Just registered anyways. You know how long it take for them to response ?

If you had registered at Udaan site, subject to documents verification, within 2 or three days you should get the connection.
You can check the feedback in "leads"in above web site.
Usually a visit to CC at Bsnl exchange speeds up the process.
Carry documents/for proof of residence/your old Airtel Bill/ Passport photo copy ( if available ) or IT Pan card/voter's ID etc.

You can use the modem/router of Airtel, if not taken back by Airtel

PS: I had both Airtel/and BSNL BB connections earlier.
Disconnected both for 6 months and reconnected only BSNL.
No complaints I registered ONline on 15th NOV to avail free d/l
and connection was registered same day. Actual UserID/PW
I could obtain only on Nov 30th. ( as out of Chennai for 6 months)
