Dude the speed of the Broadband depends upon the quality of line, modem etc. They say that every 2km's from exchange the speed decreases. If you are near to exchange then u will get good speed like 200-225kbps. The speed also depends upon the quality of line. If there are many joints or it is very old line, then definitely you will get less speed. It also depends upon the number of connections. More the connections lesser the speed.
If your exchange uses fiber-optic connection then u will get better speed.
If your neighbor's are getting more speed then your's then tell your JTO to switch to their port.
I am interested in taking BBG FN Combo 500 plan which gives 1.5Gb download limit and Night Unlimited ( 2- 8 am ) with speed up to 2Mbps. Looks to be a cheap and good option for heavy downloading. Would like to know if the modem resetting is 'still' required ?
I am planning to keep my PC 'on' and schedule the downloads in IDM from 2.30 to 7.30.
Any users, who use this plan for heavy downloading, Please drop your comments about modem resetting ( if required ) , speeds attained and the billing inconsistencies. This would be of great help to me.
Thanks.
The answer is " Yes ". Though there were reports of auto reset by users, certain circles are not following the pack. So to be on safer side, it is advisable to make sure your start and end time falls in the 2 - 8 slot. You can check the usage details for say one month and if there is auto resetting in your usage details you can stop resetting. There are a no. of schedulers available for this purpose.

Hope this helped. If in doubt, feel free to ask.
