Default Why there is drop in net connection ?

    Hello All,

My internet disconnects frequently. I checked the ping status - it shows request time out error.

    1. When I ping the default gateway - it didnt show any request time out error but it pause a second to start the next one.
    2. When I ping (yahoo or google.com) - it shows request time out error.

I have this issue for the past 6 month. Still not able to find what the problem is?

    1. BSNL guys have checked the line and phone - everything fine
    2. We had a parallel connection earlier - now they have removed all the parallel connections - but still the issue persists.
    3. I'm using kaspersky anti-virus software. I've checked the net connection by disabling firewall, and anti-virus still I get request time out error.
    4. I've changed my old modem and bought new BSNL wifi modem wherein I've disabled wifi.

Can anyone tell me what was the problem and why it happens?

Mods, if this is already discussed please merge it with an existing discussion.

    Thank you,

    Gaur

    1. Check your splitter, make sure all connections come after splitter. Check these diagrams

Bypass the splitter, connect the line directly to the spitter and check.

    2. Check the ethernet cable (RJ45), it may be faulty, try a new one and check.

    3. Check the LAN card. I just replaced the LAN card for a similar error.

    4. If possible, try friend's modem and check.

    2. We have changed the Ethernet last month.

    3. What is a LAN card? Is it the cable connecting the modem? Am sorry, I'm a novie user.

    4. SNR values:

    Internet Connection
    DSL Status Connected
    Downstream Data Rate 1950 Kbps
    Upstream Data Rate 483 Kbps
Downstream Attainable Data Rate 22964 Kbps
Upstream Attainable Data Rate 1130 Kbps
    SNR (Downstream) 40.50 dB
    SNR (Upstream) 26.0 dB
    Line Attentuation(Downstream) 16.5 dB
    Line Attentuation(Upstream) 6.0 dB

    5. Last friday, I've changed the default gateway's password admin/admin. Will it be any problem?

    1. SNR and Attenuation values are good.

    2.

    2. We have changed the Ethernet last month.
Presume this means you have changed the cable connecting your modem and PC.

    3. LAN card is the socket where you plug in the ethernet (RJ45) cable from modem.

    4. Changing modem's password won't affect the connection. Try GDMT as mentioned in other post.

    5. I see a box before splitter, hope it is just the receiver box to which the line is connected from the BSNL junction box and no other connections are taken from the box.

    6. Did you try connecting the line directly to the modem bypassing the splitter ?

    7. May be the splitter is faulty, replace it and check.
