Default Is usage of Skype allowed on BSNL Home Plans?

    Hi,

Is usage of Skype allowed on BSNL Home Plans?

I have what used to the 600+, now called, BBG FN Combo 600.

I read once, that someone was charged a humongous amount for using Skype on the BSNL broadband.

But, I think that person had used Skype for STD calls within India.

    Thank you.

    Yes.
I make International calls watch/send / video of called party ! using SKYPE. ( Also video conference mode if charges are paid )

Now STD is almost at par with local call rates all over India.

    Hi essbebe,

    Thanks for your prompt answer.

The point is whether Skype is legally allowed by BSNL.

Yes, I know that the STD rates are now same as local rates.

    No Idea.
Using SKYPE/Yahoo Messenger etc for more than three years. Also using VOIP ( Voice over Internet protocol) H24 VIA iNTERNET. etc (like VONAGE/mAGICJACK/OOmA)

If your usage is limited to personal use, no problem.

In foreign countries even downloading a Movie DVD or song
is illegal ( specially from torrent sites )

SKYPE also provides Phone call service on Payment via Internet.

So it is up to you to decide.

    1. Everyone uses it
    2. There are no written rules against the use of p2p/voip software
    3. Why do you care

Now STD is almost at par with local call rates all over India.
