CONDITION1 Km range requires more hardware.
If you opt for Bsnl Prepaid Broadband and have Landline of BSNL at both places ,
use simple modem+wifi router at both ends , and use your mobile. in wifi mode.

Note Only at one location BB connection can be made with SAME userid/PW.
    Para two:
If you use a laptop with Windows 7 OS ( with wlan card)
an application called "Connectify" will work for short range for wifi mode. ( additional wifi router not needed )

I don't think all this will go well with BSNL people. You are not supposed to use domestic connection for commercial purpose. If someone complains, you will find it difficult to get away without much loss. So taking an extension of your domestic connection at office will be illegal.

I am not sure if 1 KM wifi can achieved. There might be some rule to restrict wifi with such a vast range. Double check before you get the required hardware.

It is easy to get a connection from your office land line. BBG250 gives up to 2Mbps and have a bandwidth of 1 GB.
