Default Huawei SmartAX MT882 goes dead

I've been using the Huawei Smart MT882 modem for a long time now. I was using it as always an hour ago and it switched off and it won't turn on. The adaptor is working as i've checked it on another device. I tried doing a reset with the small button on the back of the modem but didn't help.

Anyones faced this issue earlier ? Any ideas on how to get the modem repaired ?

If resetting doesn't work, modem might be damaged. You can press hold the reset button when the modem is ON and double check if the reset was done properly. The only other chance is a faulty adapter, but since you are sure about it, it could be modem failure. Try if you can get a replacement.

    Response :

Did you check the ON/OFF switch ?

    [A]
Your radio/TV service shop can check the power side problem.
If the Input from adapter is 12VACV~~~ probably the
Electrolytic condenser is faulty in the Rectifier Bridge circuit .

    [B]
IF 12V DC = adapter, fuse ( if any ) and
or connection socket faulty.( Observe polarity)

[C] Usual old common power supply diagram

    Feedback.
PS: I have not opened my MT882 ( >4years) still working ( spare now )

    Thanks for the replies.

    @meetdilip : Replacement for a 4 year old modem ? I don't think they'd replace it right.

    @essbee : Couldn't understand anything

Yes , we simply operate it . Expected to work for a lifetime !!!!!

Thanks. At least you understood this part.
Usually the switch goes bad and may need replacement.
In my model , it is intermittent.

    2. MT882 adapters have two types of output
One 12VAC and another 12V DC . ( Marked clearly on the original adapters)
Beyond your scope to check/repair anything in side the modem. Hence a TV/radio shop was suggested.

The adaptor is Ktec. Output : 9V - 1000mA. Its the adaptor that came with the modem and the one i've been using since then. I plugged the adaptor into another electronical device and it worked fine. So i'd think there no problem with the adaptor.

Is the switch of the modem replaceable ?

Generally the switch (on/off) has been problematic.
you can get it bypassed taking help of any local radio/TV service mechanic, if you cant yourself handle it. i did for one modem like that.
if the switch is OK then possible that one of the four diodes could have failed.

    mostly the switch is suspect.
as i gave you my phone number, perhaps you can reach me for help, if it is not far out. i stay in bhagyanagar colony opp kphb

yes, the power switch before totally failing, behaves intermittent. the physical size of switch for 1 amp current is rather tiny, i feel.
better that the switch is bypassed. we can daily remove the adopter from power and manage it. please see the PM sent now.

    Unhappy Low voltage problem

    Hi Guys,

I own a MT882 modem and it suffers because of low and fluctuated voltage. The adapter came with it is a 9V 1A AC. I guess I can solve the low and fluctuated voltage problem If I can give 9V regulated DC to my modem. but not sure whether the modem will work with DC (One of my friend said it needs 50Hz reference for something....). anyone got idea about this?

    Thanks.

If I can give 9V regulated DC( 1Amp)
see post no 3.for diagram. will work. ( Not from MT 882 )
The "Bridge circuit" also available in modem internally.
this converts the A.C~ . input to D.C=, and probably steps down to
    say 5 Volts D.C.

I am also using Mt882 modem and the Power adpter is gone. Can you please let me know if 9V 1000ma DC adapter will work instead of 9V 1000ma AC. Ihave tried 9V 1a AC adapetr from the local market and it does not work.

    Please suggest

    Thanks
    Pratap
