I think BSNL has stopped mentioning the MAC Address in the Broadband Usage report.
Just wanted to confirm this from fellow members..

Apart from main usage portal, there are four more selfcare portals.
I never got the MAC address from very beginning in my usage portal BSNL Portal
I am using selfcare portal and initially, they did not showed MAC Address in the report, but starting Aug or Sep'2010,they started showing MACID nad now it has stopped.
BTW,i found this feature very useful...

Why do you need MAC ID ? You can give a request to SDE and he can send you by mail. Did once when I suspected of hacking my line almost one year back.
No comments for your above post. Not needed. These are not MORE portals. Its just the portal for zone-wise.For me,wdc is the one.

Install a bandwidth meter on his system. Try one from Networx or Shaplus.

Welcome back.
If the MAC address is shown in the usage portal
and more than one system is connected
( say 2 desktops 2 laptops in wifi mode )
could the portal show MAC address of each system ( computer)
(or wlan card mac address or ethernet card mac address ).
Assume all access : single userId and one modem/router.

I think it is not of PC, but the MAC ID of modem that is recorded by ISPs. Does modem have a unique ID ? This is what I have believed. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Same doubt for me also.
ALL TRAFFIC, by all systems with different IP address
is recorded in the Modem also.
NetworX today received 111MB sent 20.7 MB
(laptop on wifi ) no voip calls.
2.
wait ..... checking my modem .
Even if you change the modem/laptop/ BSNL meter records your usage .

No,the usage report given by BSNL used to show the MAC ID of machine(Desktop/Laptop).Routers and not Modems have a unique ID.
And,although i appreciate your help, iam against installing any software/tool on my system.I try to keep minimum required softwares on my system.![]()
Suppose two systems are connected to the modem using WiFi / Enthernet whch Mac ID will it show ? In a cafe they have 8 PC connected to the modem. Does it give all 8 MAC IDs during the connection ? (neutral tone).
We use a modem + router, won't it have a unique ID. In that way, it is easy. They record MAC ID of router irrespective of which one we use. We can still connect even if we changed the modem as recording MAC ID may be some legal liability. ( I could be terribly wrong)
May be @mvssharma being a former BSNL employee can give better explanation.
well,in my case,Broadband is used either on desktop or Laptop..i.e one machine at a time. So,cannot comment on how their system works when 2 systems are connected to Modem.
But,i suppose it is not that difficult..Even when more than one system are connected, everytime they start Internet, individual MAC ID of each system can be captured.
