    Default Problem with modem

    Hello
I'm having this serious issue with my modem now (ITI) DNA A201BEI

All started after a power failure in my area.(sudden death)
Its on my second connection.First connection is screwed.

    Problem
1.I can't access DSL router(asks for User ID password and waits forever)
2.When I connect to the internet there are errors.(modem reported an error)
3.When i turn my modem on Power light turns on and then ethernet and then DSL.Now Internet light is turned on even when I'm not connected.
4.I can only connect in the gap beetween my identification (Identifying) and after 10-15 sec Internet light pops up and stable.(odd thing that never happens)
5.I've managed to connect in that gap.

Tell me my options. Is it the modem screwed up??

    Welcome to the club.

My adapter went faulty. Using friend's adapter. Hope to get a replacement.

Did you try hard resetting the modem ? There will be a reset button (a small hole mostly) at the rear end of the modem. Use a ball pen refill and press hold for say 30 seconds when the modem in ON.

What is the status of DSL LED ? Is it stable or blinking ?

Are you sure this is only with you ? Check with your friends in same area and confirm.

You may already know this. If not, give it a try. All the best.

Tried resetting the modem about 20 times.

    DSL stable.

Are you suggesting that the modem is faulty?

Check the ethernet cable. If you have a spare try it. Also check the splitter. Otherwise it is a modem fault (unless it is some problem with exchange).

Luckily for me, I had my old non wifi modem and a brand new splitter and ethernet cable that came with my new modem. I tried everything at last today evening got my friend's adapter. Working fine without any trouble.

If possible, get a friend's modem and check. If splitter and ethernet cables are fine and it is a modem fault, it will work.

Also do you have WiFi ? Are you getting the SSID ?
