    Exclamation Problem in connecting VOIP phone with BSNL ADSLMODEM

    Hi :

    I have seen lot of useful threads in this blog .. and i am facing a sam kind os issue , could any please help to suggest on the issue i have

    I have VOIP linksys SPA-2102 switch bought from starhub singapore , need to connect in to BSNL ADSL MODEL UTstarcom 300ru, But my voip device is not abel to connect in to internet..

    Similiar Dlink model.
    Confirm Internet Ok with computer with LAN cable.

    Now transfer the Rj45 from computer end to linksys sp 2102.
    see these links for settings. Your VOIP provider could be different.
    STEP 2
    Make sure that in your Network settings is set to 'Obtain an IP Address Automatically'
    ........Open your browser and enter 192.168.0.1 . This web-based configuration is not passworded........

    see step no 4 and 5 ( select Voice )
    and give your VOIP providers details.
    if the company has provided any other unit for VOIP use give details.


    There will be no connection from BSNL Adsl Modem to computer/desktop/laptop ( give correct model number UT300R2U ???)
    to desktop or laptop.

    Hi :

    I have tried connected the the way you told me .but still my SPA is not negotiating with my BSNL modem.

    Model of BSNL MODEM:UT300R2U
    Attached the properties of both modem and spa switch.

    New BsnL Ut300r2U may not have Port forwarding options ( advanced options NAT port triggering /virtual server etc in "always On PPPoE mode )

    ADSL Modem UT300R2U:
    (a)
    Ensure connected in PPPoE mode :
    ( In wan page your bsnl UserID ( without @ bsnl.in and PW will be stored in this modem.Internet should start automatically when modem/system switched on.
    (b)
    Enable DHCP ( In lan page Give range192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10 )
    (c)
    Then check system/ computer/laptop in lan mode with Linksys SPa 2102.
    ( No conection from UT300r2U to system)
    (d)
    If possible check laptop( if available) also in wifi mode.
    ( no connections to laptop )
    No VOIP: confirm all fine for Internet working

    Para two:
    As no extra unit Router supplied by STARHUB
    only linksys settings were posted. Select "VOICE"
    Phone number etc: given by STARHUB:
    When you try to dial telephone number in Singapore ( of STARHUB) what is the ERROR message you get ?

    Do you get the distinct Dialtone of StarHub ?
    TRY "Tone" mode.

    Para three:

    The setup is such, once all done properly you don't need computer to be "Always On" to make telephone calls via STARHUB telecom system

    Para four :
    MY vonage has provided a unit(router) and its settings can be accessed by typing 192.168.15.1.

    Adsl modem==>>rj45==vonage unit ===>>> VOIP phone
    from vonage unit ===>>> rj45 ==>> .. wifi router==>~~~wifi to laptop.

    If internet fails, I get message in Phone "
    connection lost to Internet contact your ISP" etc

    My telephone number for VOIP is Vonage U.S 9 digit number
    ( as if I am in U.S and monthly charges paid in U.S )
    Same way I expect Linksys to work.
