Default Wireless connection problem with Windows 7 for BSNL Type II

    Hi,

I am using AN1020-21 VMC Type II modem for BSNL Broadband. My OS is Windows 7, where I am able to connect to internet if I connect it through LAN. But I am not able to connect it through wi-fi. In the 192.168.1.1 I enabled the wireless, and I can see the wi-fi light active in the modem. The system detects the wireless, but when I try to connect it says "Windows was unable to connect to the network".

Please help me, if anyone else faced the same problem. Below it the current configuration screen shot of the wireless I am having. Am I doing something wrong here?

Select profile as B/G. Also enter channel as 9 or 11 and check.

    Hi,

Thanks for your quick answer. I changed it, but it still doesn't work. It gives the error message like the attached screen shot.

    Thanks,

Change channel selection as " Manual " and check.

Post the current wireless page screen shot.

    Your WiFi settings are ok

    To do

    1. Configure your modem in PPPoE mode.

    2. Enable DHCP in your modem.

    3. In the TCP/IP properties of your connection (in both machines), set " Obtain IP address automatically ".

    Default LAN is also gone

    HI Friends,

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did all those changes and nothing really worked out. The last suggestion of MAC filtering, i was about to check, and now the LAN itself is not getting connected. The Modem shows all the indicators, but the network icon in my PC show NO INTERNET ACCESS. When I diagonised with Windows, it showed that the Local Area Network IP Address is having wrong configuration. The admin page of 192.168.1.1 itself is not opening up.

PLEASE HELP ME! Without wireless is also okay, but without internet . Is there anyway I can reset the modem without losing the configurations done by the BSNL People. I can see a reset whole in the model? Will it reset complete configuration? :-(

    Thanks,
    Anoop

1.You can take back up of current setting from " admin " in LHS panel and later restore it.

    2. Did you actually tried " Obtain IP address automatically " and " enable DHCP " in your modem ?

    3. Start > run > cmd > ipconfig/all, post the screen shot (for both machines)

    4. If nothing works, reset the modem using the hole in the rear side. Use a ball point pen refill and press hold the switch inside the hole for say 30 seconds while the modem is ON.

You can then use this guide to configure your modem in PPPoE mode

Teracom Type-II ADSL MODEM MULTIUSER CONFIGURATION

    OS: Windows 7 ( Home? )
    AN1020-21 VMC Type I

Do you get the wifi icon in Taskbar,

    and this window.
    Check Properties/support etc.

    2. RESET to access router settings.
    Use the link given earlier.
    https://docs.google.com/present/view...njx_14fhxf7xcf

    3. After getting LAN connection to Internet, download "Connectify"
    application.and install in your laptop.
Now the laptop(1) will work as AP within range. If you have a phone test it for wifi. or any in other laptop.

    Hi Dilip,

Nothing seems to work out. I think I should reset the modem. But I am attaching the screenshot of the ipconfig /all, in case you can find any problem in that.

    Thanks & Regards,

Your IP should be 192.168.1.1 instead of 169.xx.xx. Are you using Comodo firewall ?

Are you sure you enabled DHCP in modem ? " Obtain IP address automatically " ?

Hope you are using a desktop and a laptop. Try configuring static IP (internal, say 192.168.1.25 and 192.168.1.30) to both machines and check.

    Default Problem Solved

    Hi Guys,

finally all the problems are solved. Thanks a ton for the instant and really helpful responses I got. meetdilip and essbebe, you are the men.

To solve the connectivity, I set the IP addresses manually. Then I followed the steps given in the google docs link given by essbebe to configure Wi-Fi. The missing thing was the MAC auth was not disabled.

Thanks again , for now am also Wireless.

I m facing d same problem exactly as anoopmax. Me also hv AN1020-21 VMC Type II modem, my BB plan is UL combo 625, OS win-7. Problem is Wi-fi not connected to laptop.

I hv done y'day all the thing suggested by essebe using the link (truely is was too much helpful). I hv completed almost the job. The message showing "connected", even in sent-recv values are showing in properties but while opening browser no web pages come.

On diagnosis, it says that problem in DNS server,
Pls suggest what to do, hv I set DNS as manually then what will be the value?
IP automatically set, internet thro LAN works smoothly.

    Default AN1020-21 VMC Type I

(1)You are on "Dialer" mode" USERID/PW entered in window of computer.
You have to change it to PPPoE mode.

In Wan page of modem uncheck box "Bridging" and select PPPoE
    Next
Enter/store your userid/PW in the wan page.
Select LAN: Enable DHCP give a range say 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.10

    (2)
DNS Check under Configuration LAN sub menu on top.
