Unhappy BSNL reluctant in giving a new broadband connection

Hello guys!! You people are doing a great job here. I have been reading this threads since last few days looking for a solution to my problem.

Like so many users I too was enjoying BSNL mobile 3G broadband for the last 1 year or so. Now because of the new situation I am forced to go for a broadband connection. After going through the BB plans available I thought and decided BB would be the best option for me (no other ISP available in my area). I applied for this through BSNL udaan site on 22 last month i.e; 22 march. Same day I got a call from a BSNL guy and we went through the procedure. He made me fill 2 forms, one for LL and another for BB and collected all the relevant documents and promised that the connection would be provided to me within a week, at the most. By the evening he provided me my LL number and other details and asked me to visit the Local exchange of my area. When I visited the exchange they told me since I had applied through the site and also by paper application 2 numbers were generated and one needs to be canceled and it would take a day or 2. After 2 days I again visited the exchange. This time they said they dont have the wires and instruments in there store and asked for 1-2 days more. After 3 days when I again visit they has the same story to tell. I even said that if it is going to take a long time they can inform. I will go for other options. Well I was shocked to hear the answer from the SDE. He in fact tells that he advices everybody to go for other ISPs and telecomss rather then BSNL and I should do that too. I was getting frustrated so I called the BSNL agent who took the documents from me. They said that the SDE of my exchange doesnt want to do any work and provided me a number of the regional engineer advising that he can make the SDE work. But even calling him didnt work. He then Provided me the number of the Regional DGM. I called on that number continuously for 9 days and on some days left messages. Everyday I got a call from the regional DGM's office taking a complaint and the LL number generated for me and assured me that the connection would be done today i.e; the days I called them. No result till date. Meanwhile last Friday I got a call from the SDE telling that he is sending someone to install the line. Whole days passed, Saturday passed and on monday I again called SDE. He says because of sunday in the between the work could not be done and DC abruptly. Same day in the evening I called the Exchange and someone from the other side tells "time toh lagega bhaiyya". I said how much and he say expect it to be done on Wednesday. Today, wednesday I went again to the exchange and this time SDE sends a guy to check the distance of my house from the telephone pole. He reported it to be around 170 m. The SDE was shocked and said BB cannot run on that line (because of the distance). He was saying the wires would break and I would face problems everyday and would bother them because of that. He asked me to wait for 2-3 days more for thicker cables to arrive.(Incidentally few days ago he had told someone that he can provide a connection same day if it requires 200-250 m of wires). I came back and checked the distance and I found it to be of around 160 "feet" or less then 50 m. I returned back and corrected the distance. He again said even in that case the connection cannot be given. Well I know he was clearly avoiding because he was telling that if the connection was only for LL he could have got it done but note in case of BB.

Now is there anyone who can help me?
Is it really an issue the distance from pole?
My house is only 500 m from the exchange.
Is there really something called thick cables? I thought BSNL used only one type of wires for the connection.
I even tried to call the Nodal officer and they said even they cant do much except requesting the same regional Engineer whom I too had called.

    Help me please.

Any one nearby has BSNL Telephone connection ?

Request them to give you a parallel connection and apply for Broadband. Promise them free telephone calls allowed as per plan selected. ( even telephone monthly rental can be free!!!)
Pursue your application, in the meantime.
( installation charges may have to be paid twice . Rs 250/= for BB.
    2.
Reliance .Broadband with free Caller Id telephone ( offer in Chennai ))may be available.
check here. and select ISP according to your need. ( menu on left )
Tata appears costly. Reliance Installation Rs 500/=
Airtel will be a better choice.

    @ coolguy_jmi

Distance is 50 M or 500 M ? I have friends who live some 2 KM from exchange and gets a decent connection.

The SDE in question is either too lazy or want you to pay bribe. Complain to the Vigilance and make sure this will not happen to anyone else.

.Sitting in Chennai, i cannot advice Vigilance step.
Specially in U.P where reprisal using physical violence is possible.
and being a local resident risk is greater.
If you have a relative working in BSNL may help !

    @ meetdilip

Even I was/am thinking of doing that.
But even the officers of DGMs and nodal officers calibre has failed.
Its not a big an issue that they are delaying in giving the connection. The big issue is the way they have been treating the customers.
Well I am waiting till monday and see what he has to say then.

    @essbebe

sorry but no one in BSNL.

    @essbebe

No bro no issue of pair and all. All those issues were discussed and sorted long time ago (in the first week itself).

As far as the BSNL LL conxn in nearby home is concerned I guess that is not going to help. Thats areound 200 m from my house.

I even made an online complaint on the site you mentioned and I have the docket number also. But no result. If you want you can try at your level. How and shall I PM you??

I think most of the guys from BSNL are like that only.. They need government job but they dont want to work.. I said it because,

My Exchange JE asked me to cancel my BSNL broadband and go for some other ISP, just because I kept on complaining about my connection problem.

So, my next step was I complained about his behavior to some consumer court members(As I dont want to mention them I just said, members) and they took care of everything.

And that day evening I got a call from exchange to ask for my connection problem, repeatedly I got call from exchange continuously for a week to verify whether my connection problem solved or not. Even two calls from GM office.

But, my connection problem still not rectified. They told me that it may take some time to change the cables to avoid my frequent disconnection problem. So, I am waiting...

In ur case, wait till Monday and if not rectified do as essbebe said... I hope that'll work...

Give a complaint letter to BSNL General Manager.. U cant meet the GM easily, but u can give complaint to GM's PA... Don't forget to get acknowledgement. If they regret to acknowledge send it by Register post with acknowledgement.. U'll receive the acknowledgement card by post. With that u can move further if ur problem still not rectified...
Final hope is Consumer court... Approach consumer court for not giving u connection even u r eligible to get it... If u think u can't spend ur time for all those, then it's ur wish... But, u can do all those...

Consumer court is ur final step... Try GM's office. hope they'll make it...

    @shanraj

I even called DGM office for so many days and and everytime they gave assurance that the connection will be provided at the "earliest". They had the same thing to tell everytime.
But till now that hasnt worked.
I havent made any written complaint though. Shall I do that too...??

Did you register complain to the consumer court through any online site??

I haven't registered any complaint to Consumer court online... There are some forums available for consumer grievance, i don't know whether that works...

Better make a written complaint and get it acknowledged... that's the evidence for ur complaint...

also try as essbebe says.. May work...

If they still don't take any action then approach Consumer court. Consumer court should be ur last step...

Actually this problem is quite common with BSNL if you are applying for BB and a landline together

I remember when i went for connection they asked me that whether i have LL or not and when i said yes, the linemen said "its wonderful that you have LL otherwise it will be difficult for you to get a BB connection".

So if nothing is working try first to get only landline and then apply for BB. this procedure will take little time but will work (Same case happened with my cousin)

my home is about 6 km from the exchange and the DP box of underground cable is installed on the wall of my home and i get the full speed of my plan without any problem (750 UL)

BSNL is trying hard to keep their landline phones active as many have (disconnected it for cellphone and competition from private providers). Many Broadband plans there is NO Landline Telephone monthly rent and free calls are increased.

It is a pity some BSNL circles do not see the writing on the wall!

Even users are opting for WIFI BB.
ADSL BroadbAND Connections ( with landline) will also loose ground.

In Chennai circle BSNL is promising within three days of the application.L/L and BB !!

Hope the member gets the BB connection soon.

Sorry as I had to replace http with xxxx because of the site restriction.

There is no link on the website to check the status.

If the Local Exchange staff contacted you, and give some info/progress, . report again details.

Well yesterday I again called the regional engineer. I was pleasantly surprised that he remembered me and my case. As usual he was very supportive and keeping me on hold called the SDE in question and took his class. He caught him creating stories and scolded "Gupta ji kuch kam kariye". He said distance of 50-60 m is not too much and BB should work. As usual, he again gave me assurance that the connection will be provided.

Just hope they fall in line and give me the connection on Monday.

perhaps we can make noise that they are closing complaints indiscriminately , without rectifying and without consent from the complainant.
I really feel sad at the behavior of bsnl staff.

perhaps you might have noticed main exchange.
BSNL and other operators have what we call Remote Line units (RLUs) which are spread over the town. and the connections work with broadband best only within 4 km. so you might be served from one such RLU closer to your home.

    Hi everybody!!
    My bad dream continues.
Today the SDE sent the lineman to check the location. Now the lineman says that they dont have the wire and secondly he was not sure if a pair was available. He asks me to wait a little more.
I dont know what they are upto.
It was evident that the SDE was not happy because I too the matter with the DE.
