Thread: Mind says tata photon whiz Heart says bsnl broadband

hey guys plz help me i,m here in very big Dilemma i,m using bsnl broadband last 3 years. this is a wise decision if i go to tata photon whiz and dump my bsnl broadband connection plz place your opinion.currently i,m using 750 home Ul.

your thread title made me funny..
well whats the problem that you are facing with BSNL?
for Tata Photon whiz i dont have any idea.. but these things are new.. not many people giving feedback about these newthingies.. best is that your hear for your heart right now. and leave your brain to relax.. wait for the view from public and than take the decision...

getting a Tata photon and not getting not satisfied and than trying to get back to bsnl is not worthy try for my guesses..

i,m using 750 home Ul. of BSNL.

You can disconnect any time and apply again later . Only problem Installation charges to be paid again.
Better Switch to Home BB Zero plan and don't use BSNL BB!
Anytime "the prodigal" can come back !!!
Now experience the BB service of Tata Photon ( money will not be refunded for the unit about Rs 1800/= ) etc.

Bsnl Home750 vs Tata Photon U/L
BSNL average 6 hours usage 1 GB per day.
Photon calculate after 5GB used say in 5 days. !!!
156Kbps 20KB/sec 1200KB/min say 1 MB 60 MB/hour 6 hours usage 360 MB per day

If you see the Tata Photon Tariff Plans mentioned above, you can see that monthly plans from Rs.950 to Rs.1500 have unlimited download options. Which means you can do unlimited download in those monthly plans. But there is a condition of Fair usage policy. It means if you are in Rs.950 plan you will get speed of up to 3.1Mbps till 5GB download and once you cross that Tata Photon+ Data Card will automatically switch to low speed of156kbps. Which means you will still be able to use the Tata Photon Card without paying extra money but the speed will be lesser. Same condition apply for Rs.1100 and Rs.1500 Tata Photon Tariff Plans as well.

I have had Tata Indicom wired ADSL BB for 3 years at my home (no wired connection now) .It is ok. expensive compared to BSNL BB but service faster and at your door step. No need to go to exchange !!

Iam using Tata Photon Plus (Pre paid) Mobile USB broad band for al most 1 year ,when I started travelling last year. ( nowadays on bench "stand by duty "due to use of BSNL and other 3 G .Bench cost rs 250/250 mb/30 day voucher to extend validity)

Photon is OK is for me ( But on average 50% people I met are un happy)

Even though 0.5 to 1 mbps only browsing better than BSNL 3G always.Never 3 mbps in your dreams.

CDMA signal strength slighly better in side the home compared to 3G.

I always opted for the full strength carry forwardable Pre paid re charge ( 10 GB rs 1350 earlier ,now adays rs 1200 or so)
and I don't like their free down load after FUP which is pure Crap.

USB Mobile Broad Band is not a substitute for wired ADSL BB unless no one else other than BSNL has BB in your area

If you are not happy with BSNL- better follow BSNL BB remedy guidelines suggested by ESSBEBE and others.

Or Check Reliance /Airtel wired BB.

If you still want to buy USB mobile modem,
CDMA Releiance/Photon not a good idea as you will be struck with their propreitary modem.
With out checking Photon signal strength "demo" in your place, if you buy,you will be sorry.
Photon data cost almost same same as 3G.
Better buy a open 3 G GSM modem and experiment with different 3G providers
with small 3G re charge.

TATA Photon Whiz is not a wireless broadband. its top speed is only 153kbps.
TATA photon Plus is the wireless broadband.

Before BB connection i was using whiz and its top speed was just 144kbps so it can cannot be compared from BB connection.

Instead of TATA whiz Bsnl 3G is better

tata photon etc sucks never go for them , lost nearly 4k in just 4 months, waste of time and money.

Tata Photon whiz is like GPRS and EDGE in GSM , but it uses CDMA,

If you have to check only mail in third party software like outlook express or thunderbird thn only Photon Whiz is recommended
