Default Excessive upload shown in BB usage

When I view my broadband usage in the selfcare portal account, it is showing my uploads being very high, much more than I ever upload. In fact, the upload KBs are many times the download KBs. This has recently happened, after the selfcare site was reconfigured in Feb 2011.
Is something wrong with the site, or there is some malware etc in my comuter?
    Can someone help please?
Is someone else facing the same problem?

    1. Use a good firewall. You can get one free from Zonealarm.

    2. Install Bitmeter and check if there are any downloads in the background. You can also check the firewall to find which applications are accessing net.

    3. If you are using a torrents, remove/stop when the downloading is complete.

Thanks for quick responses. I am attaching screenshot of broadband usage (from BSNL self care portal). As can be seen, the uploads are far in excess of downloads-- a reverse of situation I would expect since I download much more than upload. My trend always has been much more downloads than uploads, as I am sure is the case with most of other BB users.
Is there anything wrong with the BSNL self care portal?- for example, have they interchanged uploads & downloads columns somehow.
I have screened my computer for any hidden uploads by malware etc. and have found none.
This is very confusing. Is it happening with others too?
I am aware that chargeable units are shown as 0 and it probably wouldn't impact my bill. Still, I am uncomfortable with the inaccuracy.

    Interesting :
For BSNL what you upload is Download!!!
    what you download is UPLOAD!!!
selfcare.wdc programmer has mixed up the columns.
Date wise data also shown with same heading ?
we will wait for other selfcare users tro respond. wdc sdc edc and ndc .
Wait let me dig usage page for wdc...... yes for Feb 2011 seems OK.
.......mu usage portal data.bsnl.in ( for Chennai users)

    2. Better use NetworX application for each system.

    3. Out of 2530 MB shown as "upload" does it actually include or exclude free NU?. Since this refers to FEB usage, could have been
    rectified now.

    4.
check Unbilled usage for April 2011 .
In screenshot include some date wise data as above.

Although the top portion in my screenshot has reference to Feb2011, the usage shown below is definitely current one, since it keeps changing everyday and the columns of day & night usage below show current dates.
Yes, the "downloads" and "uploads" shown in total usage match the totals of columns under respective columns below.
The usage, uploads & downloads include the Free night usage. I calculated the totals byexporting the usage to excel and then adding them up.
I am interested in knowing whether others are also having the same confusing usage shown.
You have very quickly understood the problem (and analysed it as well) and for that I must thank you.

Same thing here. I have in fact changed PC 10 days back.UPLOAD DATA is always more than DOWNLOAD. Whenever I Dwnloaded large files the UPLOAD has increased.I think BSNL gives Upload/Download from Servers point of view

This has happened only after BSNL self care portal reconfigured in Feb 2011. Prior to that my downloads and uploads were as expected; the reversal has come after the reconfiguration only. Even if BSNL has now started giving uploads/downloads from server point of view, it should have given info / notice of some sort, rather than creating a confusing situation.
But the real problem is- what to do about it? I have tried registering a complaint but nothing has come of it till now. May be more complaints would wake them up.

    2.
You may send P.M ( private message) to me , with above details .
I will report to BSNL BB Technical wing in Chennai.
( who in turn usually forward the complaint to BSNL Bengaluru where the servers are
kept). Probably this is a fault in programming only in wdc selfcare portal.

wait:: will update email ID of the officer concerned.
