Inspect all contacts for rusting/blackening/high resistance contacts.
Use new cables.
Recheck and ensure no extra Phones connected elsewhere. use ADDITIONAL ADSL filter for each phone.
Confirm whether any "HISS" sound heardin telephone. when Internet is working
Mention modem/model/make/number.
Check under Statistics/ADSl data and post SNR ATTN/Synch rate Rate data.

Why what does it affect...
i have two phone lines
one for calling other for BB
my BB line always has(irrrespective of internet is connected or not) a hiss sound which lasts for 10-15 sec after picking the reciever...
while the other lie works fine w/o any hiss noise or disturbance
and why doe ppl always mention this...
i use my BB line only for internet,,,ie not phone is connected...
so should a use a splitter(this may sound stupid or noobish ...but still taking my chances)
im asking this bcoz it mentions not to bypass the splitter...

to find a solution to your problem !!!!Why what does it affect...
shows broadband data is entering your phone and loss of signal.!!!!!!!
If you hear a "hiss" in phone when Broadband is not used
you have to contact CC Bsnl. Phone line should be free of noise.
ALL phones MUST be connected AFTER the ADSL splitter.
For an extension Phone in another room Directly connected to the BSNL phone junction use ADDITIONAL ADSL splitter.

use a splitter given by bsnl!!!
@davi
Additional input please.
Since you have been using for more than 4 years, difficult to pinpoint the fault.
(a)Internet connection lost as soon as the phone rings ( incoming call)??
(b)The ringer bell sound: . Normal reduced /increased ?
(c) or When you lift the handset Internet connection lost ?
(d) Phone type PULSE or TONE ?
(e) can you try a newer model telephone ?
(f)Please see this link about ADSL splitter/s ( two types )use a splitter given by bsnl!!!

@pbababab
If line/PHONE port connections are interchanged Broadband signals may be blocked.as the BB connection will be via the filter.
