Default HTC Desire wont connect to bsnl Wifi

    Hi,
I have a HTC Desire and would like to use it to connect to my bsnl wifi modem. Now here's my problem. My phone detects the network but won't connect to it. It shows scanning, connecting and then disconnected. The network is WEP protected. I have entered the WEP key in my phone.
My modem is a Type II AN1020-21.
    Can anyone help?

    Default Connects but no browsing

I have manually entered the IP address, DNS etc. It connects now...but i can't browse the net.
Please tell me how to enable:

    1) DHCP
    2) Modem in PPPoE mode

Should I do it in from the router page? i.e. 192.168.1.1

or can I change it in "local area connection" or "broadband" in Network connections on my pc

To configure in PPPoE, try this

    New Page 1

You will find an option to enable DHCP in modem menu page (192.168.1.1). At first do not set any password for wifi. Check whether it is connected and then add a password. Make sure you have not enabled MAC Filter in modem.

    Hi,
I'm really not too familiar with setting up a wifi modem. but heres what I tried

I have enabled DHCP server (see attachment), but when check at cmd prompt with "ipconfig/all" it says its disabled!

I have also disabled MAC filtering.

I checked in the "Internet connection" settings (see attchment "BSNL1.jpg") but couldn't find an option to enable PPPoE mode. Is there anywhere I can check if it is enabled? could it be that my modem does not have the PPP mode? Have also enclosed an attachement of my modem home page. Maybe it could help.

Also, my broadband properties in network places does say the type of broadband connection is PPPoE.

    Well, still no progress.

You can also enable UpNp box if seen.
    (3)
ensure you select PPPoE mode and not "bridged" in wan page.
    ( userID/PW entered/stored in wan page.)
(4).Last , but not least the link for BSNL will have VPI 0 and VCI 35.
    ( very important)
In the screen shot you have posted this link is missing.
    (5)
can you connect to Internet in LAN mode?

    (9)
    ipconfig /all
copy/paste data here ( omitting Tunnel data), if any problem.
    (10)
    Mention OS You use :
    Windows 7/ VISTA / XP sp2 etc.

Thanks for the help. Here's what I could manage to do, without any progress

    1) Deleted my old connection and created a new one in PPPoE mode

    2) Didn't see any UpNp mode

    3) Setup a new connection as suggested (Screen shot of summary attached)

    5) How can i connect in Lan mode?

    6) Have set options to Obtain IP address and DNS automatically in My Computer/Network Connections/ Local Area Connection

    7) WiFi channel selection is in auto mode, but even channel 11 does not help

    8) where do i set DHCP range?

    9) Have enclosed Ipconfig screenshot

    10) OS= XP sp2

    Thanks.

    I think it is automatic.
Recheck ipconfig /all again. does the IP changed from 192.168.1.5. ?
    Screenshot not required.

    In your Network settings:
LAN and WLAN Properties Highlight TCP/IP
    properties
    Select Obtain IP address automatically.
    Apply SAVE.

IP address is always the same whenever I have checked with ipconfig/all

I have already set to Obtain IP address automatically in Network settings TCP/IP properties.

Still no improvement. This seems like a tough nut to crack.

Never imagined I wud be writing this but .....Its working!

Have setup the network exactly as directed.
Have manually set the Channel to 11.
Have also enabled WPA security now.

Also in my "Internet connection configuration" the "Peak cell rate" was 0 by default have changed it to 8000 as given. Don't know if it made a difference.

    Thanks a lot!
