Default utstarcom WA3002-g1 - not working

    Hi Guys,

I recently applied for a BSNL broadband connection and after 5 months i've finally got it!

My machine details are as follows:
Laptop AMD 1.6GHZ Microsoft XP and Microsoft VISTA

I have the modem mention in the title and am facing a few issues.

    1. All sites do not open (icici, gmail, etc) - went through the posts here and configured the upload value and this helped.

    2. All sits still do not open . When I use some other modem, i can access all sites; however, with mine all sites do not open.

    3. DHCP is not working with VISTA.
it works perfectly fine with XP; however, with VISTA my modem's DHCP doesn't allot my laptop an ip address - i Have to manually configure it. If i use someother modem, it works fine. Hence, i think its something to do with my modem configuration or firmware.. am not sure..

    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

i use 3 vista computers on my network and none of them hav a problem acquring an ip from the router via lan or wireless(not very stable). i think u have configured ur vista computer to use a manual ip. go to control panel-> networking and sharing-> on the side there will be manage network connections-> right click on ur network adapter and click properties-> and double click internet protocol version 4 and click on automatically acquire ip address and dns.

tell me if this works out

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I have configured my vista to use a static add on purpose because it used to take some garbage ip address automatically while connecting to my modem.

The funny part is it accquires the wrong ip address automatically only while connecting to my modem; with others, it works perfectly fine ..

In addition, can you open all the sites?

Default Same problem - no solution

I'm having the same problem since last 20 days - ever since i bought an HCL notebook with Vista OS. After finally getting no results from BSNL (At Ahmeabad, they say the've never had a Vista OS customer), I finally took HCL's help. We tried many permutations at their office. Results were
    1) Vista can connect to other non BSNL modems by wireless
    2) Other notebooks with XP can connect to BSNL modem by wireless

leaving me concluding that vista and utstarcom WA3002-g1 are not compatible. (N), are you able to access internet by wireless on Vista ? I could communicate with other network members, as the wireless connects locally, but I cannot access the web.

my notebook is connected via wireless and my pc's are connected using a second router via ethernet (cant figure out how to make the wa3002-g1 to dial the pppoe).
other than frequent disconnections when i dial pppoe from the notebook i have no problems(may b sumthing rong with ur router's firmware?)
P.S:my notebook runs vista ultimate and my pc's dual boot vista home premium and xp (the frequent disconnections do not occur when i use xp)

Had the same issue.Try the kb article
Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers
It worked for me the above article and disabling ipv6

Here is the config posted by NETZONE it workes for me

Open IE browser and type the address: 192.168.1.2

Open the page by giving username and password as: admin

    Click InterfaceSetup

At the bottom of the page change the value 1500 as 1492
for : TCP MTU Option: TCP MTU(0:default) ..... bytes.

    Press SAVE

Then, click Advanced Setup -> ADSL

Set the ADSL Mode : Auto-Sync Up

    Press SAVE

    Then, click Maintenance -> SysRestart

Set System Restart with: Current settings

    Press RESTART

    Close the web browser.

With the above configuration, I am not having upload problem.

Those of you having problem with the above Modem can try this configuration.

    Post Found solution

All those people who are having problems with Vista getting connected to BSNL modem, please do have a look at this. I searched everywhere for this problem and found a solution...

You need to change the Wireless settings in MODEM to WPA-PSK and change the same in Wireless Network Connections - Network Authentication - WPA-PSK - Data Encryption - TKIP and enter the same password.

    IP : 192.168.1.10
    Sub: 255.255.255.0
    Default: 192.168.1.1
    Preferred DNS: 61.0.0.5
    Alternate DNS: 61.1.96.69
    & 61.1.96.71

In the computers getting connected, all the above settings would be same except give Ip as 192.168.1.11/12/13/14 and so on....
