Thread: Torrenting

could some guys who regularly torrent give me some details on the settings to be used for utorrents in bsnl?
i used the same laptop that i used to use when i was abroad.and this was these were the setting suggested by various websites to increase torrent speed. and when i was abroad i used to get ~160-200KBPS on torrents when connected to a 2mbit/384kps hspda router.but here it hardly crosses 100KBPS on bsnl home 500.

i use vista ultimate x64 and i hav applied the tcp patch.
i disabled firewall on the first router and enabled port forwarding on my second router.
in utorrent advanced settings i hav set max connections to 64.
no of global connections : 120
no of connection peers : 65
upload limit : 17KBPS (if i increase the upload limit there is a sudden drop in existing speed)
download limit : 220 KBps

could some1 tell me what i am missing out and help me get better downloading speed?

i think u hav misread ur plan....home 500 does giv u a speed of 2mbps. the speed varies betwn 256kbps and 2mbps depending on availability.

i also hav a home 500 plan n use utorrent... gettin around da same speed as u mentnd. i hav noticd dat da speed usually is around 1mbps. so u mite get a max speed of 150kBps if der r nuff seeders, nt more than that.

since u dnld stuff thru torrents, get dis software cald cFosSpeed. Its very helpful 4 p2p users. it makes sure ur dnlds n browzing r nt compromised coz of high uploads...so u need nt limit ur upload to 17kBps. (Make sure 2 set it 2 favour ping timing). Der r also a lotta oder features u'll find useful.
