presume PPPoE you have entered/stored userid/PW in WAn page of
    modem.
Enable DHCP and give a range say 192..168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10
    Enable UpnP.
Try without security key in wifi mode.
    then wep wpa etc.
Mention model number of wifi router.

You will find an option to add or remove encryption in your router's menu page.

This is modem's menu page. You need to get to the router (linksys 54G) menu page.

i have reset my linksys wrh50G wireless router......
All factory settings. see Post No 8.
Presume in Beetel 220BXI you have enabled DHCP and given a range
    192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10
Your wifi router/ other systems/laptop/ desktop etc will have different LAN address/es..
    feedback.

I solved this problem by myself. It was solved in a very simple way.
My connection in my mobile said connected with WEP security, while other networks said secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK so i thought i have to change mine to WPA, I logged on the webpage 192.168.1.1, gave admin as both username and password, then in my ASUS DSL N10 modem page, in the right side box – Authentication method – is by default open system, I changed it to WPA – Personal, then WPA Encryption is TKIP and WPA-PSK Key is by default 00000000 (You can change it as needed – should be 8 characters minimum) after making these changes I clicked on save and reboot.
    Hence the problem was solved.

I hope this will be helpful for people who have the same problem and those who refer this in future.

did manage to switch from bridge mode to pppoe mode successfully, so pc, laptop and mobile have internet now.
