    Default UL1350 GETTING Nearly 4Mbps !!! But SNR Problem Help Needed

    Let Me Make This Simple. This Is How The Events Of April/May For My BSNL Line Rolled Out.

    1)I Have UL1350 (4mbps till 20gig / 512 after) , staying in bangalore, it rained alot in april but only on some days, so the telephone line got all fuzzy.

    2) i could not hear anything on the phone but i could receive calls and make them (still useless if you cant hear anything except distortion) . but it cleared a few hours after it rained.

    3) then in the end of april , it stayed for days (the distortion on the phone line , so i called the line guy to come and fix it for me .

    4)he got a new cable (its a paired black one) and cut off the old one and installed the new one. (not sure where to ) but he said it would directly connect to a junction box...

    5) i checked my line rate ...it increased to 3000kbps (3mbps) and went to about 4k for a short time and then came back down.

    6) so now i have a clear phone line and internet working but line rate is limited to about 2.9 -3.0 but keeps fluctuating....
    STATS AND everything you need are below:-(btw this might help other ul1350 guys stuck at 2mbps line rate, cut off your telephone line and hope someone comes to repair it and hope that line rate would increase lol)

    if you look at the snr and other values , seems too low for downstream, earlier before the rain i used to get 15+ downstream and upstream is as usual the 20+
    BTW SNR KEEPS FLUCTUATING FROM 4-10
    LINE DOES NOT DISCONNECT (UNLESS POWER FAILS LOL, incredible india)
    before all the rain and all my attainable down rate was 8mbps and line rate was 2mbps (unfortunately) , now things have changed... plz help!

    you mean the one with 2 copper wires?are you using a splitter now?if yes then what changed from your earlier setup with respect to telephone line i.e.cut/joint/wire type etc.

    yes the ones with the copper , he just put a new one in and showed me the old one which looked alike but dusty. i've always used a splitter for adsl and phone wire and i always had 2 phones , one cordless and the standard bsnl one. and my router hasnt changed from the past year(i used to get higher snr then even when i had the same router a year back)..
    he told me one thing , that there is no joint from my house to the junction box and its just one straight wire ....does this mean im plugged to the newer dslam ports (heard they sometimes get lower snr because of this), basically everything is the same , i have my old ut starcom 300r2u non wifi one also , should i check the snr with that.....should i unplug the cordless one and check if 2 parallel phones might be causing the problem?.....

    higher the rate at which your modem syncs with dslam at local exchange lower will be the snr provided line attn remains low.in usa & europe snr ~10 is common for 16mbps or higher speed connections but this does not seems to the case in your problem.your downstream attn is 42 which is same as mine & at this attn your downstream snr should be ~30 for a max attainable rate of 8mbps just like mine but my connection max speed is 2mbps while yours is 8mbps so your earlier downstream snr value of 15+ was expected.my suggestion is remove any phone including basic one & then try.if problem still remains then try with old starcom modem.for both tests use splitter with no phone.only guess i can make at this point is line modulation type whether ADSL2+ or G.dmt.hopefully old starcom modem should pick the default modulation type which used to be G.dmt(not now at least in my area).you can even try manually changing between G.dmt & ADSL2 to see if it solves the problem.

    ok , i did a bit of fiddling around with the connections , tried putting the phone line direct into the router = doesnt work ( i did that because the pin for one of the wires to the phone on the splitter after splitting was jammed in the socket - didnt want to loosen the cable or destroy it for that matter)

    but anways , i tried gdmt mode....got the attainable rate to 3999 and line rate to 3500 roughly , snr and everything else the same ....getting download speeds of 390-400 on apple / ms servers....btw where do you guys check your speed? speedtest indian servers suck ...cant even get passed 1mbps before the test ends...

    ill try my old router now and post the results in a few minutes

    PS> Funny thing i noticed , if i turn off and turn on the router the line rate keeps fluctuating (not stable) sometimes 3100 sometimes 3900 sometimes 3500, i think its maxed out or something....ill try pulling out that jammed pin....i got some more of those phone wire type cables but new unused ones...ill try switching ....maybe some rust or something in the rainy season due to moisture

    some ppl said that the 2 phones connected in parallel would have to be done right for it to work so this is how it goes

    main cable with alot of fancy colors like orange white,blue white, green white, -> cable A


    cable A ------->1)1 direct hardwired connection to the wireless phone (connected to orange white of cable A)


    ------------->2)Main Connection to Splitter Line (Also Orange White)

    ok Now From The Splitter

    i am not much of an expert when it comes to telephone wiring but some other experienced members like essbebe might be able to help a lot more regarding this or at least point to detailed instructions.from whatever i could gather from your post first of all the fancy multicoloured main cable you described seems like LAN wire to me & nowhere in your post is the mention of original 2 copper wire telephone cable.also just for future it might be a lot more helpful to post the pics instead of describing your wiring arrangement.you can use a camera phone & upload the pics on any free imagehosting site like imageshack or tinypic.my guess at the moment is if it indeed is a problem at your end then it might have to do with some damage either to internal wiring generally used in flats or external wiring itself.

    Connect ONLY a phone to the Phone junction.(1)
    If it works reconnect to LINE of ADSL splitter.
    Connect all Phones to PHONE PORT of ADSL splitter.

    Connect Phone to Phone junction 2 :
    If it works : connect ONLY modem/router to juntion.
    If you need a PHONE here: Use additional ADSL splitter.

    RULE:
    In a Landline connection for Broadband ALL Phones in ALL rooms should be connected via an ADSL splitter. ( max 3 or 4 telephones )
    MOdem/router can be connected direct subject to condition above.

    ok i got 14 db downstream and attenuation of 39 downstream but my line rate reduced to 2mbps .... any help ?

    changed mode to adsl2+ getting 3.2 mbps but snr at 5 downstream (weird)

    BBG Combo ULD 1350 -> 4 Mbps upto 20 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 20 GB ( Still Haven't Crossed The 20 Gig Limit)

    Yup its already set to open dns , i have no problem with dns , resolution is fast but max speed on my downstream is nearly 4mbps...now im getting 3.8 look below
