    Default Configuring UTStarcom WA3002G4

I got this modem today and just can't seem to configure it despite reading thru so many threads on it already.

    1. I solved the Limited Connection issue from one of the threads.
    2. I configured the modem as said in this thread : Chennai Telephones- Changing password in DataOne Pre-configured modem

Now what I have is the Power light and the WLAN light on. Thats it. What next do I do from here to connect to the internet ?

    1. First check if you have a dial-tone by connecting the BSNL wire directly to a phone,

    2. If you get a dial-tone, then connect it to the "LINE" port of the ADSL filter. Connect your ADSL modem/router to the "ADSL" port and your phone to the "PHONE" port on the filter.

    3. If the DSL lamp still doesn't glow, call the JE of your local BSNL exchange.

BTW, how far are you from the Exchange ???

Oh, I am sorry you are already a bronze member....

    the modem must be bad...

    Sumanth,
please change the wire from splitter to modem, it could be the culprit.

I am connecting the phone line directly to the modem. Not using the splitter. And I have changed the wire too as you have suggested. No help.

@bsanath : I use the same wire and connection to connect to the internet thru Huwaei MT882 modem and it works just fine.

try to hardware reset by pressing the internal switch while power is ON, with a ball pen or tooth pic. Later try to configure from scratch. this should definitely resolve.

If another modem is working with same ID and password, there must be something wrong with the modem. Take the modem to the exchange and ask them to check or give a replacement.

Another option is to reset to factory settings and reconfigure it.

Also make sure that the phone line coming the modem is perfectly plugged in. In my case, the jack at the end of phone line is a bit loose and gives similar error.
