Thread: W-Fi modem for half price on advance annual payment from BSNL.

Hi everyone..
I am in such a mess. I am from Punjab and my area comes under Ferozepur SSA. I selected newly launched BBG COMBO ULD 850 plan. Now, I had made my mind to make an annual payment(which means I am commiting for 12 months). As per plan, it is given that I am entitled to have free ADSL basic modem if I make annual payment. Fine. But I want to have Wi-Fi modem instead. So, as per plan, it is also mentioned that Customer eligible for ADSL Basic modem may be offered Other Modem Types on payment of Half the price which actually makes sense. Now, I have been visiting BSNL office in Faridkot(my town) for last 2-3 days. The madam at the couter says that there is nothing like free modem offered. Directed me to SDO. I went to him. Is an aged man. To my surprise, he also told me that no free modem is offered. I told that its written on site. Now, this person also doesnot know how to use internet. He just knows how to operate DOTSOFT(BSNL software). He then asked my number and tried different options on software. Free ADSL modem option came in when he selected annual payment mode. But when he went for type-2 modem with annual payment option, nothing like half price appeared. He concluded by saying that you can get basic modem but for wi-fi modem, I need to pay full Rs. 2250 and not Rs. 1125. Isnot that ridiculous. This man doenot know anything. He didnot put any efforts to provide me with a solution. I am confused. Can anyone help me here plz. Has anyone taken modem at half price from BSNL with annual payment. If yes, then how because as per that SDO, his software doesnot allow him..lol..You can visit bsnl site and see the notes below which say :
$ Customer eligible for ADSL Basic modem may be offered Other Modem Types on payment of Half the price. Customer eligible for ADSL WiFi modem may be offered ADSL Basic modem ( if they choose so) without any extra cost.

Give an application for above.
Get a receipt. collect the wifi router.

NO loss to President of India !!
( They would have effected this discount on annual plan earlier possibly.

Ok..Thanx for the reply to this ques as well the one on 20% govt rebate on annual payment ques. Can you please tell me the steps I need to take sequence wise. I need to go for BBG COMBO ULD 850 plan. Annual payment. Wi-Fi Modem at half price(Rs. 2150/2) = Rs. 1125.
Now, SDO has to give me demand notice. He says, half price is not coming for Wi-Fi modem on DOTSOFTwhen he selects annual payment option. But basic modem is shown free. Now, when I go to cash counter for making a modem purchase, I have no option the to pay full Rs. 2250 for Wi-Fi modem. Come back to SDO. Rs. 1125 extra gone for modem. Now, while making an annual payment, he says either monthly govt rebate or annual payment option. So, I end up paying Rs. 8500 here also against Rs. 6800 told by you. Total loss = Rs. (1700 + 1125) = Rs. 2825. BSNL SDO is not ready to do anything to help me and go beyond his DOTSOFT software. Kindly tell me step wise what I need to do and get benefits. My father is a govt. Employee. The connection is to be taken under his name. I didnot get terms like CC, ACK, copy and some other stuff. Shall be helpful if you just simply explain to me again what all I need to do when I go again to BSNL office. Thanx!!

Why you need wifi ? how many systems in use ?

Option 1 :
Pay whatever your SDO tells you to pay and later
ask for credit adjustment in future telephone bills for excess
amount., and open a file!!!

Option 2 :
Pay ONLY monthly charges , take modem on rent
get the connection. telephone number.
Modem security deposit will be adjusted later.

Option 3:
Postpone Option 2 if already having a Landline BSNL
connection.
Make an Online complaint as mentioned earlier.

Register for a Broadband connection at Udaan site.

Again you are confusing the issue. wifi router at 50 % discount is applicable only to the wiif router priced at Rs 1800/=
The other wifi routers may not be available. meant for IPTV/VOIP etc.

Fine. I already have BSNL landline running since past 12 years. So, you are asking me to pay them Rs.(8500 + 2250) = Rs. 10,750 instead of Rs.(6800 + 1125) = Rs.7925. Then, make an online complaint and hope to get my Rs. (1700 + 1125) = Rs. 2825 refunded....You are asking me to pay for now an annual advance but without getting any benefits(half price modem and govt rebate) due to which I desired to pay annualy. Involves a lot of risk. I dont beleive the customer support of these govt. based BSNL like comapnies to be frank. I am afraid I will have to rum from corner to corner then to get my Rs. 2825 refunded. Is it worth going for annual advance this way or shall I change my decision to monthly payment. Tell me as per your experience with this online complaint response quality..:O

And about Wi-Fi, I myself use laptop, my sister uses one, there is one desktop too. But basically, Wi-Fi is needed for freedom to use internt anywhere at home. And I just know and I have seen at cash counter that there are just two options they have for modem. Type-1 and Type-2. For Type-1, 1150 or may 1100 comes up and other type, rs. 2250 comes up. I dont need IPTV/VOIP. But they are asking me to pay Rs. 2250. Anyways, suggest me the fastest way possible. I want this plan as early s possible.

I have registerd a complaint where you asked me to do so. Also, I have just send an email to public grievance officer, Ferozepur. Lets see what response comes. I tried registering for a broadband connection at UDAAN site but it is asking for a username and password..:O!!
There is no register link as well it seems.

So, I visited BSNL office today. Met D.E.T. Had done my homework properly. Took circular along whch says that 20% rebate to be given on annual payment also to govt. employees. Took along Udaan's customer care number with whom I discussed problem yesterday and he assured me about the solution since as a customer, I was entitled to get benefits. D.ET. took interest, called customer care in front of me, took my number. They have concluded that yes, 20% rebate on annual payment plus wi-fi modem at half price are to be given. But, as per rules for now, 20% rebate is adjusted in 1st bill. Again, the question arised that since I shall be making an advance annual payment, then I would not be receiving any bills. They are yet to clarify on how to give those benefits. They would call me probably tomm clearing the stuff. Actually, their software DOTSOFT is getting converted into sme CDR software. They agreed that their software is incapable of providing some of the existing benefits like 20% rebte on annual payment, modem at half price etc. But they agreed that customer has to be given the benefits in some other alternative ways in case software is failing to wotk upon them. But one thing is clear, in India if you want to get the things done from govt. departments, you need to be equipped with all things like taking circular along, web page saying half price modem option, customer care number and all that when it was not my rather their duty to help me. Anyways, I am hoping that things get cleared by tomm. Thanx for circular thing and udaan website. It hellped.
