    Default Siemens c2110 problem

I am having issues with my modem (Siemens c2110). It started few days back when suddenly the link and data lights stopped blinking completely and my internet connection stopped working. I tried by resetting to the factory settings and it worked fine. This had been the issue since lat 3 days but after few reboots or factory setting it worked fine. When these 2 lights are off I cant even access the router through 192.168.1.1.

Today when I switched it on again same thing happened. I switched it off and on hoping the issue would be sorted out. But this time I think issue has aggravated as now all lights are constantly on(no blink). Moreover the PC/USB (Lan port) light is not yellow as it should be. Instead its red. Ping reply is there but still no access to the router. Even after I remove all connections except power same thing happening. Has my modem gone problematic???

    Urgent help needed please.

Check using another modem or simply take this modem to the exchange and ask them to check. If within warranty period, ask for a replacement.

Also try changing the splitter and ethernet cable.

    Hi bro.. !!
Thanks for the reply as I was waiting for.
Actually this modem is mine (since last 3 years so I guess warranty period expired)and not provided by BSNL(I bought it last time from BSNL when we took the connection from BSNL in Kolkata). So I cant go to them.

Secondly normally when I just connect it to the power supply and remove all other cable, only power light would glow initially and then link light start after sometime. Then as i connect it to PC green light would blink(PC/USB port). But now even after I remove all the cables except power supply power light glows constantly and all other lights start blinking with the PC/USB light turning red/green alternately.
I googled out and found guys with same issue as mine and they had to change the modem.
So I guess I have to do the same. I will take it to a repair center and see is it can be repaired.

Can you suggest any good modem within 1000-1200 range.

    Advice above .

This old modem has two models, and Firmware update may help.
Better Broadband section of BSNL do the job, or give you another modem in exchange.
    feedback. .

report snr /attn data. or post screen shot as attachment here.

If you are ok with a non WiFi modem, you can get one from BSNL for Rs. 1,100 outright purchase or Rs. 50 per month rent. For a wifi modem, it costs Rs. 80 per month or Rs. 1,800 for outright purchase.

It is wise to get a modem from BSNL as otherwise they blame your modem even for line faults and refuse to repair / attend the issue.

    @essbebe you didn't get it.

I didn't get this modem from BSNL with the connection so why would they take it back or exchange. I haven't payed them anything. It is a pre-owned modem.

most probably one of your modem's circuit is fried.siemens c2110 modem as i found out is sensitive towards power supply variations & safest way is to connect it to a UPS for smooth running.if you are going to buy a modem from market try to buy a model similar to ones supplied by bsnl like beetel, huwaei etc.

Well I guess you are right its dead. It was powered on continuously for last few days may be that's why, though the power supply is through an extension connected to UPS.
Any how I managed to get a spare modem. But I don't think BSNL provides that modem. Its known as COMPEX and model number is MRL21E, I guess ZTE based. Going to start a fresh thread for the same.

    Default Same issue here

@Coolguy: Same here.. C2110, all lights glowing, pre-owned!

Now, the question is, Did you find out something new? Or did you buy a new modem? If so, please provide details, since I suppose I have to follow your footsteps!

    @prat22
I really feel sorry to inform you that your modem is dead. And in that case you cant do much except buying a new one. Still can u elaborate the events which led to this situation.
Did you try hardware resetting it.???

I got the "used" modem, and after 2 days of work, the link LED won't glow. Only the power and LAN LED glowed.

After a few power resets (on-off), which worked earlier, all lights started to glow simultaneously. However, I was connected with LAN, but the LAN LED showed red instead of green, which is meant to indicate USB connectivity.

The reset switch doesn't work, and I am unable to login to the modem and perform a software upgradation/reboot.

And today I took it to BSNL, and they pronounced it Dead!

I suppose I have to get a new one, and I am thinking of a wireless ADSL modem this time. I am preferring to buy from the market, since this days BSNL is not providing any kind of warranty.

Can you suggest me a good modem (Except D-Link, since its input voltage range is narrow, and I am prone to low voltages) in a reasonable price?

If you got this modem from BSNL then you are eligible for a replacement. Why dont you try complaining at customer care. After all you paid for the device.

If you are planning to buy a new modem then this should help you

You know BSNL! By the time they address my issue, I will be 50!
And, however, I mentioned that it is a pre-owned modem, and hence, the actual owner rights are not with me!
Thirdly, the SDOT told me that since the modems have already crossed the warranty period while it was in their stock, the original company would not cover their warranty issues. Hence, they are unable to provide the same to the customers! (What a logic!)

However, thanks for your quick reply and the links of course!
