Default Internet connection goes off after power cut

    Dear All,

I have BSNL broadband connection. It works very nice but the only issue I am facing now is, whenever there is power cut my PC keeps running nicely however my internet doesn't work. The modem is connected UPS.

But the real strange is that it the internet works very nicely when I switched off the power of my house only. However it doesn't work when there is power cut in entire area. Are there any telephone lines which requires power?

Is there any connection between power and internet.

    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    (1)Mention your modem/make/model/number.
    (2) buy and fix a PCI Adsl modem, which draws power from PC 's PSU

    (3)
    Mention the power adapter details of your modem.whether say 12V A.C ~~~ 1Amp or 12V D.C 1 amp.
will be clearly mentioned in label of ADAPTER.
(4)you can restart modem after each power transition .
    (5) Your USP may not have power handling capacity for house lighting. PC FAN/ TV etc to use all at the same time.
    Feedback item wise.

Instead of using the power adapter 220V.AC~~~~==>>>10V D.C=
    USE:
    Safety precautions :

D.C plug to modem If Inner is marked Positive

Observe polarity and connect directly to UPS battery. through a

3 terminal Voltage regulator 7809 ( Positive supply ) to drop additional 3 volts. Cost Rs 5 to Rs 10/= approx )

May not damage modem even if 12V ( can be higher in battery )given directly.
Modem Beete220BX having same hardware board needs only 5 V input.
and inside the modem final D.C can be only 3.6 volts.
Try with a 6V emergency lamp or Motor cycle battery.

but cannot recommend !! Try at your OWN RISK !

It could be because your telephone exchange doesn't have UPS for the broadband section
