    Default Troublshoot My Connection

    Using DNA-A20BEI modem.

    The symptoms are

    1. Disconnection every once in awhile (SNR / Attn is all right /Checked)

    2. Sometimes websites won't open and the loading goes on forever.

    3. While the websites are not opening I can download through torrent or IDM in normal speed (50~60 kBps)

What is the issue here? BSNL CC said my PC has a virus ??#@@*)*@

Then the lineman came and said line is perfect.

Again CC says they will send someone (for last 3 days)

    Help

    1. Check splitter, ethernet cable. Connect the line directly to the modem (bypass splitter ) and try.

    2. Toggle DNS to automatic or give Open DNS / Google and check.

    3. Check with another modem and try.

    4. Try Opera Turbo. Check the status.

    5. Reset the modem and configure again.

    6. Reinstall browser and check.

Will do the bypass splitter trick...

    Already on google DNS

Opera Turbo also gives same result...

The only thing I've been doing since saturday was resetting my modem...

If this is the modem's fault BSNL will have to replace it once again...

    Will feedback later...

Change DNS to automatic and check.

Keep a back up of modem settings. By that way, after reset, simply use the back up to restore the settings. My connection was also giving problems 2 days back. Tried everything without success. Got okay itself after some 4 hours or so.

Planning a 3rd party modem ? Seen many users opt for one from Belkin. May be due to the price factor. Netgear and Linksys are also good. Presume you want a WiFi modem. BSNL does not support 3rd party modems. Just like they accused your PC of virus, they will blame line conditions on your modem and stay away from attending it. Get one from BSNL if possible. Costs Rs. 1,800 outright purchase or Rs. 80 per month rent. I took on rent and when it died, got a replacement. Choose wisely.

All right. I was a customer of BSNL long ago then I shifted to airtel , I quit their service when they started that FUP thing.
Now last time when my modem was malfunctioning I asked them and they gave me this one. This time the same model died pretty soon.I'm pretty sure they will give me this model again.

Is there any way I can get a good model from BSNL even if I had to pay something extra as a rental?

Depends on stock. You can get the same from another exchange too (in case you want a specific modem). For getting a BSNL modem, ask any of your friends having a BSNL connection to apply for a new modem and give it you.

I have the same modem. Works just like normal one. Try resetting.

Connecting...This goes on for forever...Then didn't respond msg

Type your IP (external) in the address bar and check. Still not working means something wrong with the modem. Take it to a friend's place and check 192.168.1.1 in their PC. If you have XP, check in that too. Hope you have set " Obtain IP address automatically ". Also try configuring static IP (internal) and check.

    This may help

nokia c2110 modem is sensitive to voltage variations.it is recommended to connect it to pc ups & do not keep it on 24 hours without break.

May be a modem fault. Try to check at a friend's place using this modem.

BSNL is good as long as there is no reason to contact their staff.
