Default Modem reboots randomly when WiFi is enabled

I've been using BSNL's UTSTARCOM WA3002G4 wireless modem for 2 years. Recently, it has started rebooting randomly when I connect a mobile to the modem using WiFi. The settings are not reset, and the connection restores after the lights come back.

I gave it to the local exchange, and they gave it back after a couple of days with an expected reply that the modem is gone and I'll have to buy a new one. Is there anything that can be done to get it to work normally? This is driving me crazy!!

    1. No chance for replacement ? Check with some in the tech department.

    2. A new WiFi modem comes for Rs. 80 per month rent or Rs. 1,600 outright payment.

    3. Is it only while using WiFi ? Are you able browse with ethernet cable on your PC/laptop ? Check and confirm.

    4. Reset the modem to factory settings and configure again. Use this guide

    5. Try a friend's modem at your place and check.

Your use of MOBILE in WIFI mode does not affect WA3002_g4.
Check my signature link WA3002_G4 quick guide, and check your settings.
Post as screen shot(jpg ) attachment. Statistics/ADSL data page.
    here.
See my link "MONITOR" if required.
    7.
Check all contacts for corrosion/blackening/oxidisation/rusting etc.
If possible use new set of cables.

Mention the wifi channel No selected.

Before I check on anything, here's a little bit of information.

I am able to work without any problems using a BeeTel 220BX modem(of course it has no WiFi) using the same set of cables, LAN socket, power point(wall socket), etc.

And I did disable WiFi in the modem's settings, and there was no reboot. Yes, there was one reboot, but I am wondering if it was just a coincidence.

Will try both your suggestions and get back soon. There was a down-time recently and the landline went dead. They took about 4 days to fix it, though the exchange is just 1 km from my house. The problem started after this. Initially, I thought it could be due to some problem with the cable lines that they fixed, when I realized the modem gets crazy when I connect my mobile through WiFi. I do download stuff through torrents, and connect my mobile to share the connection to download apps into my mobile! Hope this information helps you help me find the problem.

    Thanks!

    1. Try this guide

    2. Use a friend's modem (with WiFi)at your place and check. If it is a modem fault, this will help you identify your issue.

    3. Try resetting to factory settings and reconfigure it.

your psu is loose sitting in the power socket. this is very probable cause for intermittent reboot. perhaps it may not have anything to do with wi-fi

check 1. psu plug. In the market you get converter for thinner round pis to normal pins
    2. power on off switch , if available on the modem, might also be responsible.

Only after being doubly sure of above aspects, you may check other possibilities. this intermittent issues are tough and deceptive and many feel that other reasons are more apt than these.
