Unhappy Modem VMC AN 1020-21 wi-fi not working

Recently my BSNL modem got replaced with a VMC AN 1020-21. Everything is working fine but, the wi-fi is giving me problems. I went into the wireless network settings and enabled wi-fi. Then when I tried to connect my iPod touch 2G to wi-fi It said "Unable to connect to BSNL". Here is a screenshot of the wireless network setting page - 5img .com/vimg221/2948/29bsnl.jpg (please remove the space between 5img and .com).

Please tell me the changes I need to make to the settings to be able to access wi-fi on my iPod touch.

Do you use WIFI for a laptop?
Also ensure PPPoE "always on" mode
( userid/PW entered/stored in wan page of modem)
    DHCP enabled.

    1. Select profile with b/g.

    2. Try channel as 9.

    3. Try this guide

Dude that model has issues with line voltage (electrical supply). Try running it on UPS and see. Mine works well during blackouts when it runs on my sine-wave inverter.

This modem is weird in the first place ! Mine works only about 20% of the time flawlessly...otherwise all sorts of weird problem crops up. 1 laptop works fine, but when u try to use a 2nd laptop, the modem suddenly restarts & WiFi LED keeps on lighting but my laptop does not detect it. I was wondering if my settings were wrong but on UPS power it works wonderfully... without a hitch.

How do you connect use a "Dialer" to connect mode
    http://www.indiabroadband.net/attach...ports-adsl.jpg
    or
in PPPoE ( "Always On") mode .
    (b)
Can you use both Laptops in wifi mode , at the same time
with UPS power supply in use ?
    (c)
What is the DC output required for the modem/router ? DC and Amps.
Is the adapter used smps type ?

report snr attn details and mod mode selected.

VMC AN 1020-21. is mostly based on Siemens C2110 + wifi additional.
( most menu pages will be similar )
Please check my signature link "teracom " for more details.

I am using the modem in PPPoE mode.

Yes I can use both my laptops while on UPS power.

I think the required Voltage is 12V and 1mAmp.

Rest... I didn't get ur question.
One more thing, when the Modem starts behaving weird it heats up and start making a slight buzzing noise. When it works normally there is no noise and a very minimal heat.

report snr attn details and mod mode selected.
just to check your line conditions.

    Probably the power adapter is faulty. ( Input shown as 110V A.C~ to 240 V A.C ~ ????)12 V D.C = 1 Amp OK.
Try for a replacement at Bsnl broadband section. ( exchange ) .
    (f)
In the link given may be some FW update is available/sugggested.
    Not needed for your model.
