Exclamation BSNL with Belkin N+ Wireless Modem - Wireless not working

    I have a Belkin N+ wireless modem(I think its a DSL modem).
    Model F5D8235-4

I have a MT880 (the old BSNL modem). The lan port is connected to LAN port of the Belkin. I have a cable connecting a second LAN port on the belkin to my Laptop.

I had both wired and wireless connection working so far. But a week or two back wireless stopped working. I am still able to connect to the Internet using a ethernet cable.

Appreciate if anyone can help me with this.

    Part Number:F5D8235-4
    General
Device Type Wireless router - 4-port switch (integrated)
The lan port is connected to LAN port of the Belkin.......
Change the rj45 to BELKINS WAN port of from computer Lan port.
    Connect another RJ45 from LAN1 or LAN2 or LAN3 Or Lan 4 to computerDesktop/laptop

Change MT880 settings to PPPoE mode > enter/store userid/pw in WAN page. ( if needed)

Check settings. if lan connections OK .
remove rj45 cable which is connected to laptop
    Check WIfi mode in laptop.

seems Belkins router has Lifetime guarantee.

If possible post ONLY wLAN data.ipconfig /all
( No tunnel data needed < No IPV6 data needed.
problem can be at laptop end.
Check Wlan Icon in task Bar and try repair option. error message ?

    Hi essbebe

Thanks for the response. Here is what I have.

I assume you mean connect the RJ45 from MT880 to WAN port of Belkin. Then connect a RJ45 from LAN port of Belkin to Laptop. I did that. PPPoE in MT880 and Dynamic in Belkin. No Luck

Also I have always had PPPoE setup in MT880. One thing i observed with my earlier setup of connecting both the Modem and Laptop to the LAN port of Belkin is I can access the Belkin Routers page only if I am connected to WiFi. Similarly I am able to access the MT880 setup only If i am connected through RJ45. I am not sure if I had this issue before when everything was working.

Just to be clear, I am able to connect to the Router through WiFi. Just that I am not able to access internet.

And I have tried this is on three different laptops. So i think its not a issue with the Laptop. Makes me wonder if there is a problem with the Router.

I have windows 7 and got the Diagnose option. It gives a lot of information which does not make sense to me. In the browser, when I use Chrome, I get DNS could not be resolved. I think its primarily because when connected to WiFi, the Router does not seem to identify the MT880 Modem.

    Here is my old setup:
    MT880 - 192.168.1.1 , PPPoE
    Belkin - 192.168.1.2, Dynamic
You can see the configuration of the Adapters in the laptop in the Ipconfig.

this doesn't seem right.i don't have a wifi router but if i remember correctly modem & router should be on 2 different IP ranges i.e.modem 192,168.1.1 & router 192.168.2.1 with computer getting ip address from router.also modem should be in bridge mode.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

@essbebe,since i never owned a wifi router i don't consider myself as a person to give detailed instructions while you on the other hand have much more experience regarding this setup.as for my suggestion of bridge mode i somehow missed your suggestion of pppoe mode in 2nd post of yours.i think i read somewhere in one of just4kix's posts(i may be wrong)that it is easier to setup modem in bridge mode & router in pppoe mode(correct me if this is not the case for future reference).

    @whitestar_999

I spent almost 30 minutes last night to reconnect my wifi setup.
As the wifi Icon did not appear in the laptop.
Finally found out the wireless switch in the Sony/Vaio laptop
    was in off position.!!
Windows 7 wireless diagnostics page suggested the check !!!!

    Para two:
As user @ramjicts has reported wifi failure
since last week, did not suggest drastic changes in his setup.

Yes.Guide by @Just4Kix shows connecting modem in Dialer
( "bridged") mode for use with wifi router.

will wait for feedback from user.

All OK. In Wifi mode access all units.
    Modem access : 192.168.1.1.
    Vonage voip : 192.168.15.1
    wifi Netgear: 192.168.2.1

Your PM. ( private message )
    1. Changed DHCP to enabled and ip range to start from 192.168.1.3 in the modem
    2. Changed network settings of WLAN and LAN on my laptop to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
3.Changed the LAN IP of Belkin to 192.168.2.1
    4. Belkin did not ask me for a password. I had a few options on the connection type and I chose Dynamic. The others were static, PPPoE etc
    5. Connected the rj45 from modem to WAN port of Belkin.

When I do this, both wired and wireless do not work.
Did I do anything wrong? Appreciate your help.
    1. 2, & 3 OK.

4.& 5. Please confirm without using Belkins wifi router
lan mode internet connection is OK. using AX MT880 modem.

    Just verified without the router.
Removed the routed from the setup.
Connected the rj45 directly from the Mt880 modem to Laptop.

    Internet works fine.
