Thread: Wi Fi Modem/Router for BSNL

Hi,
Till now I was using UTStarCom modem. But it is an old modem and giving compatibility problems with my laptop with the Windows 7 OS. The connection terminates in every 5 minutes and then i have to switch off and On my modem. With Vista, it works fine.
Hence planning to buy a new modem.
Kindly let me know if I should get the modem from BSNL itself or can I also get it from other shops.
In that case, will I face any compatibility issues.
Also Please suggest some good Wi-Fi Modems.

Which mode are you in ? PPPoE or Bridge ?

Strange ! It is not normal that it works on Vista but not on Windows 7. If configured in PPPoE, it will work on both through LAN.

It is better to get a modem from BSNL because they blame even line faults on your modem and refuse to attend the issue. Modem if damaged within one year, you can get a free replacement.

Get a WiFi modem + router so that you can use your laptops and mobile phone through WiFi.

I also feel it very strange.
At home, I have a Dell (Windows 7) and HP(Vista) laptop.
HP laptop works fine.
But for dell, the connection automatically terminates in 5 min.
After 4-5 disconnections, it works fine. At office LAN, it doesn't face any such issues.

May be some problem with the Dell laptop. Use ethernet cable and connect to the Dell laptop. Check if there is any disconnection problem while connecting through ethernet.

Update WiFi adapter driver of your laptop and check.
