Default LAN & wi-fi not working simultaneously

    Dear all,

This is the second time i am writing in this forum. 1st as per essebe's guidance i could solve a serious problem regarding my wireless connectivity with my laptop. Thank you all for that.

Now i am facing another problem regarding this- both of the desktop via LAN & laptop via wireless do not work simultaneously; either of the systems connects to the INTERNET at a single moment.

I am using AN1020-21 VMC Type II modem for BSNL Broadband. My OS is Windows 7. Pls tell me both desktop via LAN & laptop via Wi-fi can be worked simultaneously or not? and if yes then how & how to do that? Pls.

Yes, you can use both of them at the same time. Check this guide

Use this guide to configure in PPPoE

    Thumbs up

Thanks meetdilip for ur suggestion. But i have quarry regrading this.

    1) Is this not possible with my current bridge mode of connection? It will be the best if something to be done in this mode.

    2) In one of the link it is mentioned that delete all of the bridge connection in the modem set up page by typing 192.168.1.1. If there will be any problem in PPPoE mode how do i come back my bridge mode? because there are six no of bridged connection mentioned? how to remember? how to set up?

    3) In this link there is also mentioned that in multi-user mode use an switch betwn modem & computer? i hv no idea abt switch? what is it? how to set up?

I hv a desktop connected with modem in bridge mode & a laptop via wi-fi in the same mode. Problem is both do not work at the same time. I want to do so.

    Pls advice.

As far as I know, you need to be in PPPoE to share the connection independent of other systems.

Forget about the switch part. Once configured in PPPoE you can use desktop via ethernet and WiFi via Wireless network in your laptop simultaneously.

you can use ICS(internet connection sharing)but then your primary system(desktop or laptop, your choice)must first be connected to internet before you can use internet on your secondary system.

    Always Welcome

Yes, the speed will be divided between both machines. If you are using 512 Kbps connection, total speed will remain as 512 Kbps (64 KBps).

    I will not recomment ICS.

In bridge mode, otherwise it is not possible to for multiple machines to use the same internet connection.
