Default Problem with Huawei MT800 modem...

I have recently got connected to dataone using a Huawei MT800 modem. Since it is directly connected to my desktop, so I didn't do any settings change. Simply created a new internet connection and signed in!

Now, the problem I'm facing is-

After some time of logging in, the connection gets out giving me a message as the attached image. The desktop icon still shows that it is live! but when I double click on the icon it comes for a fraction of a second and disappears! I need reboot the PC and the modem to get connected again. In the initial 10 days, it didn't give me any problem. It's only for the last 2/3 days that I'm getting this error!

Have anyone encountered this problem before? Is this because of a XP issue? I'm using XP professional with SP2. Please help!

Default Previous problem resolved but a new issue came up....

Thanks a lot mmm for showing me the direction...

For now, my problem is resolved...at least it seems so!!!

If this is of help to someone, I did the following-

    -------------------------------
Error messages when you start a Windows XP-based computer and then try to download Windows Updates

    Article ID : 931852
    Last Review : February 20, 2007
    Revision : 1.0

    SYMPTOMS:
When you start a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, you receive the following error message:

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Additionally, when you try to download Windows Updates on this computer, you receive the following error message:

Svchost.exe application error. The instruction at "Ox745f2780" referenced memory at 0x00000000000000. The memory could not be read.

    RESOLUTION:

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, click Run, and then type net stop wuauserv.
    2. On the desktop, double-click My Computer, and then delete the drive:\WuTemp folder.
    3. Delete the drive:\Windows\System32\Catroot2 folder.
    4. Open the drive:\Windows folder, and then rename the SoftwareDistribution folder as SoftwareDistributionOLD.
    5. Open the drive:\Windows\system32 folder, and then follow these steps:

    a. Rename the Wuweb.dll file as Wuweb.dll.old.
    b. Rename the Wuapi.dll file as Wuapi.dll.old.
    c. Rename the Wuauclt.exe file as Wuauclt.exe.old.
    d. Rename the Wuaucpl.cpl file as Wuaucpl.cpl.old.
    e. Rename the Wuaueng1.dll file as Wuaueng1.dll.old.
    f. Rename the Wuaueng.dll file as Wuaueng.dll.old.
    g. Rename the Wuauserv.dll file as Wuauserv.dll.old.
    h. Rename the Wucltui.dll file as Wucltui.dll.old.
    i. Rename the Wups2.dll file as Wups2.dll.old.
    j. Rename the Wups.dll file as Wups.dll.old.

    6. Restart the computer.
    ---------------------------

Initially, I formatted my PC....loaded XP prof SP2 again...loaded McAfee8...updated DAT engine....But the problem was still there!!!

Then I found the above article in microsoft site and did exactly the same. In some cases, one or two *.dll files may not be in one's PC. No need to worry about that. Whatever *.dll files are there as per the above list, just do exactly what is said and BINGO.....! It works....!

After this I have updated OS patches (security and other updates) through WIN automatic updates and regularly updating McAfee too. The original problem seems to have gone!

I have observed that the "Catroot2" folder and other *.dll files come back again after the reboot (point no 6)....but at least the problem is gone! I think these come back because of some registry keys.

Now I have only one issue...and it seems a little bit strange.... This has began after updating HP patches (through HP printer's software auto update) for my HP PSC1400 All-in-One printer...!

When I boot my PC it boots perfectly well without any issue...but the McAfee icon will appear as "On Access Scan Disabled" for 30-45 seconds...after some time it automatically comes to "On Access Scan Enabled"...and till this time the booting process is on...that is I cannot do anything....not even open a folder...the response is very slow...! After McAfee comes to normal status, my PC works fine...!

In normal circumstances, my PC booting time is around 1 min OR less...but because of this issue it is taking additional 30-45 seconds...! May not sound like a problem...but may be some un-necessary update of HP or something else is causing this???

my PC particulars (again for ready reference)-

    AMD Athlon 1800XP+
    512MB RAM
IEEE card with three external slots
Additional USB2 Card with four external slots
    10/100 LAN Card
    APC 500VA UPS

    running on XP Pro SP2
    McAfee 8.0 (updated till 16 August 2007)
PSC1400 HP All-in-One printer attached to one of the USB2.0 port

    suggestions please.......

Default Is this a right place to ask this...?

This is about my previous post...

This new issue may not be linked to BSNl broadband....so my posting may not be proper...sorry if that is so...!

    But any help is welcome....!
