Thread: Connection releted problem....not recieving any bytes

hi,
i formatd my pc yestrde...evrythngs ws fine....was also connctd to he net for an hour...bt thn had to install sound drver for my pc....now eversince i have installed sound drver from my motherboard cd....i m not able to connect to the net....moreover LAN is connected...i can see bytes sent but there r no bytes recieving....i donno wat the problem is....plzzz help me...

it can be IRQ problem but you are telling you are getting LAN conectivity ..so IRQ isnt the culprit.try to ping your wan default gateway ..and than any wan url/ip ..see the result it may be due to DNS ..if you are getting repply for ip and the url for that ip ..just uninstall yout lan card (device manager-uninstall ) and than refresh ..and install again ..(be sure you getting IP from dhcp (if enaled ) server and NAT is enabled.) ..

hey thnx for all the suggestns.....bt i hav a new problm nw.....my problm got fxd wen i connectd using usb...bt nw agan i m facing a problm....i get connctd n thn get disconectd in 15 mins...i donno wat the problm is....is my pc creating sme problm.....is it the cable or the modem thts reating ths problm....plzzzz help me....

Dude... I sense some serious issues with your PC. Lets start from the beginning.

Did you BSNL internet work before you formatted your PC? in both LAN and USB?

Did you get any driver incompatibility warning (in XP and vista)? which reminds me, Which OS are you using?

Which Anti-virus and Firewall (if any) application are you using?

thnx for rplying dude....i m using windws XP home edition wth Avast ANtivirius n Ad-Aware...n connectn was fine befre i formattd my entire pc....now wen i connctd using LAn it showd tht i ws able to send packts bt not recve ne packts....thn i tried using USB...which connectd.....but wud discoonct vry often.....n now i m not able to connct using USB.....my ip address sttings r....

n i was able to ping using address 192.168.1.2 wth 0% loss....now i hav reset my modem....wat config do i make...my modem is D-Link glb 502T modem....help mee.....

Humm.. First of all remove the Avast and Ad-Adware... many AV applications (esp the ones with inbuilt firewall) can cause problems like the ones you mention. I've never used Avast AV or Ad-adware, so cannot comment whether they're actually causing the issue - but there is no harm in trying :P

Try re-installing your system (if you're upto the task - in terms of hours of work) or better try running a live ubuntu CD on your PC and see if your connection works on ubuntu or not. If it does, then the problem is with XP and if not then there is some hardware failure.

P.S. - I'd suggest installing Nod32 anti-virus system. It is really good. Recent rains could also have caused the issues that you're facing - we all know how sturdy the BSNL underground wiring is :P
