    1. Are you able to access other security sites ?

    Check for Conficker infection here

    Conficker Eye Chart

    2. Disable your firewall/ antivirus and check.

    Download the attached file,extract

Right-click the Rename.bat file, and then click Run as administrator.
    User Account Control permission
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. This renames the SoftwareDistribution folder.
    Try to install updates again.
If the issue is resolved, delete the Rename.bat file that you created in the previous steps.

The issue is there is some software or some script that is blocking you from connecting to ms update...

Not a BSNL problem. I think

    Try this

    1. Click the "Start" Button, click "All programs", and click "Accessories".

    2. Right-click “Command Prompt” Run as administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Type "netsh winhttp reset proxy" (without quotes) at the command prompt, and press Enter.

    4. Try the update again.

Try using another modem and check. May be your friends can lend you one.

Normally such cases are due to virus infection. But since you reinstalled OS, it should not happen. Or did you use some crack just after installing Windows ?

not able to download anything from microsoft websites
clarify this.you can not download anything from MS site using browser/download manager after you click on the download link in the site page?

    not infected by conficker.........
i have disabled firewall and antivirus and checked......even then same problem persists.......
over confidence is a bad thing even for a professional let alone a novice user.i have seen people infected with conficker virus running an antivirus on their system.try an online scan site:
Free Online Virus Scan - BitDefender Online Scanner
Free Online Scanner - Online Virus Scanner | F-Secure
fsecure test require java runtime environment which if not already installed on your system you will be prompt to install it.

first do this to eliminate the most basic cause of such problems & then move on to next steps.

should i reset my modem to check the connection
When did you install Windows 7 OS ?
    Mention modem/model/make/number.
    Download Microsoft Security Essentials.
    2.
Have you loaded windows 7 in a separate directory, and the Default OEM OS Vista Home is still available , or upgraded to Windows 7?
    3.
Team viewer is the best option for you.
    PM @whitestar_999,/@axel/ or @meetdilip for a session.

    @essbebe

    Modem:UTStarcom WA3002G4
I had a session with him...tried all possible solutions

So I advised for a thorough virus check and modem reset as that PC was not opening update directly but through a proxy it was opening.
    Changed the DNS too.

Then I told him to come here for more suggestive ideas.

Are you using Windows 7 with a crack ? If yes, try update just after installation without installing the crack. May be your patch is infected.

If you have a genuine copy of Windows, reinstall OS, check updating without installing any software which comes with a crack. Normally cracks are infected.

Also try using another Windows 7 installation disc. I had some problem with my primary Windows 7 DVD. Now using a different one.
