Thread: internet connection between laptop n pc at sametime.

Iam using zxdsl 831AII modem to connect internet to my laptop.now i want to connect my desktop also to the internet using the same modem so as to use the internet in both the system at same time.my laptop has windows vista and desktop win xp running.kindly help me ASAP.Iam weak in networking so plz let me know in details.

OPTION 1
If you got this modem on rent try to get a type II adsl modem+4lanport+ wifirouter.

Option 2
Connecting USB port is problematic most of the time .
Do you have the drivers for USB mode ?
see this link for setting up in LAN and USB mode .

Test both desk top and Laptop in lan mode/USB mode. .

in "Always On" PPPoE mode ( Your userId/PW stored in wan page of modem )

Then remove LAN cable &connect USB port of modem to desktop USB port.

How many LAN ports does your modem have ? You can use one ethernet port for desktop and WiFi for your laptops.

If your's is a non WiFi modem, better get a WiFi modem plus router from BSNL. You can get one for Rs. 80 per month rent or Rs. 1,800 out right purchase.

my modem has one ethernet and 1 usb port.so pls tel how to connect pc to modem and then laptop also or i need to connect laptop and pc through ethernet cable with each other thn modem to laptop or pc through usb.so as to share the internet connection.

Need screenshot of Device info, as there are two or three models.
to recommend USB drivers.
Mention OS used : Windows 7 /vista/ XPSP3 etc.
