Cool I want to change my plan from Home 500. Please suggest ;-)

    Hi all,

I am from Pune and I use BSNL Home 500 plan. The details are 2.5 GB upload/download limit and unlimited access during 2AM to 8AM.

While searching I came across this link of BSNL Tariffs which is www(.)bsnl.co.in/service/new_BB/BB_home_only_unlim(.)htm

Currently the scheme that I am using has the 2 mbps speed range (I guess). I was thinking of changing my plan so that there won't be any limited access.

But I am not sure which one to go for which will give me good service? Plus, will there be a huge difference between speed if I switch from 2 mbps to the speed limits mentioned in above links?

Or is there any other scheme which can give me "unlimited access" using the 2 mbps speed with some additional rates i.e. more than 500 Rs per month?

Any advices would be very helpful.

    Thanks in advance,
    Teja

Speed difference will be considerable. For Rs. 500, you can choose UL 499 which gives 256 Kbps unlimited. Home 500 has been discontinued and if you change once, you won't be able to revert back to it. Choose wisely.

    .:Unlimited Home Only:.

UL Combo 625 is also good for you. It got free calls and no monthly rent for telephone.

Thanks a lot for your reply Dilip.

But currently I have got ONLY incoming land-line connection. So in that case, will I get the free outgoing calls if I go for the above scheme?

And personally what would you suggest? Should I go for change with slow speed? Or should I stick to Home 500 which I wont ever get back in case if I disconnect?

There are no free calls for UL 499. But UL Combo 625 got 100 free calls. I think you can use 100 free calls irrespective of your telephone plan. But still, check with someone at exchange and confirm.

I personally feel 256 is too less a speed in this scenario. I am using UL 750 with 512 Kbps unlimited. You can try this plan is you can increase your budget a bit.

If your usage is limited to around 8 GB, you can use choose one of the ULD plans which give good speed.

This plan discontinued wef 1st Feb 2011.

If you had been downloading heavily say 50 to 60 GB during NU , You can never get a similar 2 Mbps speed plan again.

Most use cellphones for their contacts, and BSNL landline connection is a must for a Broadband connection. So users try to avoid monthly rent and call charges.

Home 750 with 512 Kbps speed U/L H24 seems Ok.
Your incoming telephone calls any way FREE !

    Cool

Thanks for your responses Dilip and essbebe.

I don't have a fix limit for my download range. If I decide to download movies and other stuff with torrents then I usually go around 30-40 GB download and that heavily depends on the night unlimited usage.

    essbebe,
You said that the plan has been discontinued. But I am still using it. So is it like it will be continued for the users who are already using it since a long time? And it won't be available again for them if they chose to go for other plan? Let me know if I am right...

    Dilip,
Currently with my plan I get 230-240 KBps download speed. Can you tell me what sort of download speed I will get if I chose to go for the 256 or 512 kbps plan?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, unless they give any intimation you can continue using it as long as you wish.

I get 60 -70 KBps on direct download and 50 + KBps upload speed on UL 750. You will get half in UL 499.

Well, that's kind of BAD after using the 2 mbps line for almost 3 years now.

But then again the big advantage is difference between unlimited and limited access (...and good sleep which I don't get sometimes when I go for NU usage).

Do you have any idea, by what time they are planning to totally deactivate the Home 500 scheme? Or any incidences where the users have been asked to stop using that scheme and get shifted to other possible best schemes? Let me know if you have heard anything like that.

    Your help is appreciated.

I am also in the same Home500 plan. the plan doesn't exist for new comers any more
    that way it is discontinued.
but bsnl would allow the present customer base as long as they continue to use without default
regarding sleepless nights, perhaps an auto batch file to download might help provided you have enough backup power to cope for power failures

From which date are you using Home Combo 500 ? Minimum hire period of any plan is 1 month. If you got it after 1st June, you cannot change now. Otherwise give a request at exchange and specify that you want new plan from 1st July.

You can apply plan change online from here

    UDAAN PROJECT -- BSNL

But still there is lot of confusion about the activation of new plans. It may happen in two days or say somewhere in first week of July. I think it will be better to give application manually at exchange and request them to change the plan on 1st of July.

Are you sure you want to move to Home Combo 625 ? Speed is mere 256 Kbps (32 KBps).

.Possible. Try in your selfcare portal ( if ndc )
or in udaan site. ( login not needed )
Change of plan : Around June 25th or 26th.

You need to pay only the balance amount. If you have already paid advance for Home combo 500, you need not pay the full Rs.625.

I am not sure whether they will entertain your plan change request before 27 th. It may get rejected. If your plan change before 1st, you cannot use whole 1.5 GB. Your share will be 26/30 X 1.5 GB. If you used extra, you will be charged @ 20 paise per MB. Hope I addressed all points.

Then i checked online i surprised that really my plan is changed to combo 625 also my download speed is reduced to 32 KB's. I got land-line on 21 may and broadband on 27 may and they charged me 996 rs for 10 days from 21 may to 31 may. How it is possible??? Is my plan really changed....Please tell me.....

    Check in your Usage portal.
    http://selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in
If new connection Installation charges for Telephone/Broadband to be paid. Also Security Deposit for local calls STD etc.
If modem on rent Modem security Deposit also charged along with modem rent for say 4 days. and how about Taxes ?

Avoid asking questions providing partial/incomplete information.
    (deleted)
Bill shows breakup of all charges.
    Post them here.
Refer BSNL web site/s for details.See links below.
