Thread: Connecting two laptops to the same Modem

Hi all,
I have 2 laptops(official and personal).Previously i was able to connect both of them to the same bsnl connection.
Recently i have changed my official laptop and i was not able to connect to neither to any site nor to 192.168.1.1.

After which i searched google,did
1) reset modem
2) Changed to obtain ip address automatically

after which i got a messgage => IP address conflict.Then i did a ipconfig /release and renew.Then i was able to connect to internet with both laptops without any prob.

But now(2nd day) i had to do a release,renew only after which i am able to connect to internet.without that iam not even able to connect to internet using my official laptop.

Can anybody tell me the permanent solution for this prob?
Moreover iam falso very eager to know y i got this issue only after i changed my official laptop.

Are you the adminstrator ?
2.
Do you want Both LAPtops to connect to Internet at same time ?

.In your office do you connect to local Network/VPN or internet direct ?
4.
In the modem used at Home ( mention make /model/number ) change to PPPoE mode
( UserID and PW entered/stored in WAN page )
Enable DHCP ( usually in LAN page )

1) Its not a brand new, i had exchanged with another one from my office.
2) Iam not an administrator and want both Laptops to connect at the same time.
3) Office had provided Reliance USB connection for me.
But i prefer connecting to BSNL when am at home.So, iam not connecting to any office LAN/network.

Can you tell me How to change to PPoE mode and enable DHCP server?

I think it is in PPoE and enabled DHCP server checkbox.

For Office Laptop:
If you don't have "Administrator" facility,
You cannot addd/delete settings or install
applications/ update the OS etc.

and set up your DNa A212 for BSNL connection.
PPPoE mode ( Userid/PW stored in WAN page )
DHCP is enabled in ( Advanced Options LAN Page )

Check your Home Laptop functions Ok both in LAN mode and
WIFI mode.( what is the OS used ???)

Your Office Laptop should show the WIFI ssid you had given in
Your DNA212 router. ( what is the OS used ???)
